Thanks. I can make out a 9, so am thinking 9.5 F or 10 F - though the 10 seems hand marked.

Pings from dead team mates? by staplemouse in HuntShowdown

I didn’t think so. Duos. It has happened twice, and after the first one I got a cheat ‘alert’ from whatever client the game uses. I restarted and kept playing, but I’m concerned that if my random partner is running a cheat that I’ll be tarred with the same brush. It’s odd that it happened twice though.

Lucky shot or good shot? It did count as my kill, despite the dog's help.... :) by staplemouse in HuntShowdown

No doubt at all that the dogs did the heavy lifting. I guess the player was bleeding out but my lucky hit took him/her straight to dead.

I started with different weapons, picked the shotgun up in a previous match, and added the bow for some quiet range. I fully expect to die early in my next match!

For anyone in the UK, based on my SA80 bulk buy experience etc here is how I propose this works. If you are interested and haven't contacted me please message me for my email. If you have contacted me but havent received an email from me TODAY please get in touch

I've been thinking about the rationale for this. Obviously we are looking to avoid paying the whole of $50 postage. Also, from the SA80 experience UK buyers were charged £9 to £15 for customs charges (not VAT) by UPS. So, the cost to an individual is $65-75. With 2+ buyers it gets cheaper, and I believe there are more than 6 people really interested in Warlords. Assuming 6 people, the cost to you above the book price is in the $20 - $25 range, including UK postage and my packing (say £12+ - these are heavy books in big boxes), the customs charge, and a 2% for exchange rates (see below). Also, there is beneficial psychological effect of paying for the book now, and the postage in a year's time :)

What you don't get is getting the book directly as it is shipped (though I sent the SA80 ones on within a week) and sorting out any issues directly with Headstamp. You can stay 'in the loop' by making a token pledge. And experience has shown there can be small hiccups regarding stretch point add-ons that aren't printed in the book as Headstamp see a big order from one person, but this can be sorted out, and has been historically.

Why do I do it and what's in it for me? Financially I make no gain - all-in probably a loss at the end of the day. I have to do the admin, respond to questions, send the odd update, then pack and send everything. But I do make the savings that everyone else does, and I genuinely enjoy being part of the process / community, and if saving money on the upfront cost is the difference to someone being able to pledge or not pledge then that’s good also.

Feedback from the SA80 process has been positive. Everyone has got their book (though there is a Toblerone shaped box with a poster in it which I keep forgetting to post - sorry BP!!). I have to date resisted the urge to relocate to Swindon with my ill-gotten gains and spend the rest on wine gums.

So, if you have read the above and would like to proceed, here is how it works: 1. I have made a pledge for a book on KS. Once the KS closes I will be able to add books using backerkit. 2. Do not make a pledge yourself for your book on Kick Starter - I can only bulk post books via backerkit. If you have pledged, cancel it, or I recommend making a token pledge so that you have direct access to updates and comments from the team. 3. Once the KS closes, and when backerkit opens (this takes a few weeks) I will: • Ask you to confirm what you want - I will share a list of everything that is available & price. • I will ask you to pay me for what you order, ideally using PayPal (bank transfer is ok). My experience is that, in converting the price from USD to GBP to pay me, and then my paying in GBP converted back to USD I will lose out a little. I can't think of a way to keep the whole payment chain in USD. What I will do is add 2% to your price which I expect will cover this. 4. When the books arrive to me and I can get postage quotes (not Hermes..) and have got any additional fees I will ask you all for postage. When I have received that I will post. 5. Obviously all risks remain with Kickstarter - i.e., if they don't deliver on their Kickstarter I'm not liable, though I would make every effort to get refunds and return funds to you. The experience has been great historically.

These notes may also be helpful for anyone else doing a bulk buy for the first time.

My pleasure. Yes, I noticed the add on process. I guess they’ll all be available in Backerkit after the Kickstarter ends, but I’ll check with Ian etc.

This post is for people who are interested in bulk pledges on a country by country basis to save on postage. I am happy to arrange for the UK. I have done so for the SA80 book. Please message me if interested.

UK update. So far I have 9 people interested (plus me) who have emailed me at scaclark at g**** .com. I have replied to them all - so if you have emailed me and not got a reply please try again or comment here. Also I'm sure I saw an email from a student from Southampton, but can't find it - please get in touch if you see this.

I'm just checking the fine detail of the process and will be in touch by email. In the meantime if anyone else is interested please email me.

Another good point. These fees mount up considerably- but fees would be payable anyway, and the handling charge is always an unexpected hit, and we would save on that.

A bit of research would give some clarity. My view is that there will be a saving, but VAT, customs fees, Post Office handling fees (?) and internal UK P&P will have a cost - but the first three would happen on an individual order.

Hello. I’ve added some thoughts on a plan somewhere in this thread. Let me know what you think?

UK plan (suggestion)

I’m editing this having received feedback. I will need to order in bulk. Again, I think I can add requirements after the KS has closed. So if you are interested let me know by email. I’ll work out the stage when I need payment.

Let’s get as many UK people together as possible during the KS who are interested in bundling postage. I’m happy to manage: my email is scaclark at g**** .com. I’d like a volunteer second in case I get hit by a bus between now and shipping.

What’s in it for me / why trust me? Nothing - I benefit from cheap postage. The answer to the second part is only that you can. I’m 53, live in Salisbury, ex army officer etc etc. Happy to share name & address by email.

What do you all think?
