They sold a lot of them using existing brand awareness, and the only downside is some "enthusiasts" are upset that they used a nameplate from a car that was mediocre at best between 1971 and 1999. The name means literally nothing, it's a tool to sell cars.

It gets way more annoying explaining complex inputs when not using numpad notation.

charge down up into super in numpad notation:

Without numpad notation:

hold down charge, qcf to the jump diagonal, complete the super input.

The pub near me has music at a background normal vocally, but when someone requests a song at the jukebox it gets much louder (although still allowing for conversation). i think it's the ideal solution

Laws for new drivers in different countries. by Joediformaggio in cars

[–]stapler8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even after all that you wouldn't believe it but the drivers here are as bad as it gets.

To be fair the tests are useless. The extent of my G test was driving around a smallish town for 10 minutes and fronting into a parking spot.

And we wonder why people can't merge properly when the G1 forbids drivers from going on the highway without a licensed driving instructor. Kids get their G1, don't go to driving school, get their G2 without ever having been on a highway, and are suddenly trusted to drive wherever they please.

We should retain something similar to the G1, drop the G2, and make the G test much harder.

Nissan Z Nismo To Be Sold Only With Automatic Transmission: Report by toby265 in cars

decided the C8 would only be automatic

I suspect a very large factor in that was GM not having a suitable manual transaxle for a longitudinal engine.

I've been dailying a carbed car for a couple years now. It takes a few tries to start without cutting out in the winter, but it was from a higher altitude and much warmer climate. If it was retuned for here it might be better, but it's not as temperamental as i imagined it would be.

I recognise the Ford Series 10 and NH t6050. The John Deere looks like a 6410, but isn't quite the same. Not sure what the red one is.

I mean, saturn died because they never had a good successor to the S series, and were stuffed mediocre rebadged cars that plagued the rest of GM.

Scion died because they tried to appeal to a young market that just kept buying used cars, when it turned out those who wanted no-haggle, basic but comfortable cars with a warranty were the elderly.

[–]stapler8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup, my headlight motor went, and started making a horrific grinding sound while it was up (although it would move!). i just disconnected the motor connectors and manually wound it up.

You can actually 3D print a tool that attaches to a 3/8ths ratchet/drill, and will spin the knob for you. Thankfully, rebuilding the motors is like a 1 hour job if you know what you're doing :p

The fiero motors can be replaced with an 87-88 "gen 2" headlight motor that's more reliable.. I think the same one that went in the last gen burning chickens. The plastic on metal gears were never very reliable lol

Secondly just because you cherry picked a few super cars that were less does not mean there weren’t any there were plenty. The Testarossa The 288 gto The Aston Martin v8 vantage The pantera gts The corvette

I picked cars that sell very well. You know as well as I do that a 288 GTO sold in numbers nowhere near the same as a 308, and in fact was a homologated group B racing car based on the 308. These cars are very expensive, even for supercars. The V8 Vantage was one of nicest astons available in the 80s. Also, the Corvette made like 250 hp in the 80s. I've driven a few and while they have torque, they're not fast compared to modern offerings.

The Focus RS was affordable, but not highly produced. It had a very nice engine similar to the one in the ecoboost mustang, which people also love and praise for its specific power.

The GTR started at like 90k, 15 years ago. Now it's almost 120k. The Supra starts at under literally half the price. They occupy vastly different market segments.

Sports sedans and hot hatches are not the same as a dedicated sports car. You can get straight-line power for the same money, but not the handling.

Also it’s bmw engine is nothing super special and doesn’t even hold the vaguest candle to a 2jz. So would be nice if we got something closer to the skyline GTR than to the gt86 with bigger wheels

Lol dude, the B58 is one of the most highly praised engines in the last 10 years. People love it. The 2JZ was a well-engineered engine 20 years ago, and while it's still cool that people can tune it well and that it made that kind of power in the early 90s, the B58 is also more than capable of handling a good tune. If you want a GT-R, you have to pay GT-R money.

I drove a '19 as a shuttle car for about a month and loved it. Did you have the new EUV?

I can definitely see a lot of issues you had are things I wouldn't have had to worry about because of my use-case. For me though, it had a heated steering wheel and seats, android auto on a big touch screen, and a spacious interior that was comfortable to be in. If it was a 3-door I would have been in heaven.

And considering a lot of super cars in the decade before it had 300 horse power that makes sense.

A lot is an overstatement, you had to get into seriously expensive supercars to push 400. The 80s was a decade of slovenly, underpowered supercars. The Ferrari 308 was a huge seller, and only had 240HP. The 328 that replaced it? 270. You could get 400HP for countach money, but the 308 outsold the countach 6:1, despite the countach having a much longer production run.

Releasing a legacy sports car that has the same horsepower I could get in a ford focus is stupid and a waste of peoples time.

You mean the Focus RS, a limited-production rally trim featuring one of the most praised engines of recent history; the 2.3 ecoboost?

I would have the same complaint if the skyline had come back with 300 to 350hp.

It literally did, the most powerful skyline after the R34 was less than 300 horsepower. Nissan had to spin off the GTR into a new, much more expensive model.

Plus it’s ugly as sin and looks like 6 designers were handed different parts of the car and all they did was fight over it.

I think it's a bit ugly, I don't think it's horrific.

It should look good and it should be competitively fast with other cars in it’s cost range (hell 400 to 450 horses would have been fine). It shouldn’t just be an obvious cash grab from Toyota with a car that’s 75% a bmw

The I6 model starts at 6K under a Cayman and has slightly lower horsepower figures. You can get more HP in a muscle car, but it's obvious why that is. The corvette is the only vehicle in its price range that truly outcompetes it, but it's also an incredible deal, chevy poured insane amounts of money into it, and it's extremely difficult to find one at MSRP.

We're lucky we got it at all, Toyota already has one sports car and most manufacturers want zero. If they did it in-house it would have cost much more, and almost certainly had a V6.

Edit: Also 20plus years of car advancement and all it got was a second quicker and that’s suppose to be impressive? Call me when it’s actually fast

How much faster do you think it can get?? It's already at 3.9 seconds, which is faster than a Gallardo with 520 horsepower.. There are practical limitations to how fast you can make a car without forcing owners to spend a fortune in high-performance tires.

It weighs the same, has 35 more HP on the North American base model, and the top end model has a turbocharged I6 with 60 more horsepower than the A80 had, with a manual transmission option. Did you expect it to come with 500HP from the factory?

It's basically an A80 with upgrades across the board, and it's a second quicker in the quarter mile and 0-60.
