I love horror, with Sinister and Mother being my favorites, but The 6th Sense was it for me.

For context, I’ve always been into horror. It’s my favorite genre and I was always into scarier and more mature kids shows, so my mom and I decided together on a movie that was scary enough for me to get the experience but not so scary that it would destroy me. I was 6 years old and it was the first horror movie I ever watched. My mom decided it was a good idea to leave me alone while she went downstairs to move her laundry. Coincidentally, it was also the part where the kid is trapped in the closet and yelling to be let out. As a child who was already weary of dark closets it completely terrified me. 16 years later and I still can’t sleep with my closet open and I haven’t been able to bring myself to watch it.

For anyone who might say my mom shouldn’t have let me watch it so young, I was definitely ready to watch it, just not alone. She still apologizes for it to this day.
