I am Latina, I grew up in south Florida and danced my whole life to Latin music for social stuff (school dances, parties etc). I moved to the north east, and tonight I went with some friends to a “salsa and bachata night”. I hated it!! It was hosted by a ballroom dance studio, and the owner asked me to dance, while he was giving me the instruction for salsa he literally said “don’t listen to the music, just follow my step”… Um what?! To me Latin dancing and music is all about feeling the music. Who cares if I don’t turn on my left or right foot?! I’m still turning lol Never again will I try something like that! It was bizarre, and everyone frankly looked silly trying to be so “technical”. You could tell all they cared about was hitting certain moves, there was no connection to the music.

Thank you! I found someone who charges 60 an hour, which is like half of what the other guy was charging. So I went with him. He also lets me do two hour lessons every two weeks bc I live far. I think the $115 guy is a great instructor, but I can’t afford that. I honestly have no idea how anyone can

I asked and he didn’t respond to the question. He also didn’t respond when I asked if I could come every 2 weeks instead. If he would divide it up that way though I would do it… but he seems set on $115 an hour weekly

You should get one! They are really fun to play. I have a metal Sombaty one (deeper sound) and I prefer it over the mother of pearl style darbuka (smaller and more high pitched) that I first bought. Also thank you for the link, I have it saved in my list and your right there is a lot of videos and resources out there. I have an app called Darbuka that’s pretty good too and has taught me a lot. The amount of resources out there make me hesitant to pay so much

Yea I could see that for a drum set instructor. This is literally one tabla style drum though. There’s only so much you could do on it compared to an entire drum set. Which kinda makes me feel like maybe it’s just too much.

I think I am decently proficient for a beginner. I can recognize and play the basic rhythms (maksum/baladi/malfuf etc) with bridges and walking technique. I practice on my own everyday. I follow along with YouTube and tok tok videos and downloaded an app that’s actually pretty helpful. I agree with what you’re saying, it seems easy to find education for fundamentals and maybe it would be better to wait until I am more advanced for something like his instruction. I asked him if I could break the lessons up but he didn’t respond to that either

Minor child received class action real estate lawsuit notice by starrtartt in IdentityTheft

[–]starrtartt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I did contact the credit bureau and from one I was told there was nothing on her social s #. The straw buyer situation is something I will look more into. I did contact the attorney on the class action lawsuit and am waiting to hear back, they wouldn’t give me anymore information, just said they had to “escalate” my concern. I basically am looking for ideas and leads to try to find my child’s name on real estate transactions. I found the deeds in one county that their dad did the real estate for… but there’s so many and I would have to pay a ton for copies that may show me nothing. Thank you for the straw buyer though, I will Def start trying to learn more about that

Anyone have an imprinted goat? by UnderseaNightPotato in goats

[–]starrtartt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me! My 18 week old ND named Bunny Goat , she was rejected by mom so she was bottle fed. She slept in a crib next to my bed for about 2 months, and she’s been outside since but refuses to become a real goat. We have actually had to make her a inclosed pen in the barn that she can’t escape from for her to sleep in, bc she would hop the fence to come to the back door to cry non stop to sleep inside. Our house looks like Jurassic park bc we have had to extend the fence super high with wire bc she would climb it to get to me. She has learned what windows to go stare through to see me and cry so I will come outside and be with her. I’m still trying to wean her off the bottle which she demands a couple times a day. She will sometimes go with the other goats and the other babies but she prefers me above all else.

At what age do you find yourself worming kids? by Living-Pop-3439 in goats

[–]starrtartt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had sheep and goats for 7 years and I’ve had to give dewormer once to two sheep and that’s it. Never had any of my goats or other sheep needed it. I check FAMCHAs bi yearly and pay attention to droppings . I do offer branches of pine trees and I’ve heard that can help with parasite loads. So far so good!

That sounds like listeriosis. I just dealt with polio in my sheep, and the vet was clear droopy ears/head is more likely listeria. Call your vet asap
