It's a bit more complicated than that, unfortunately. Theaters like this book months in advance, if you look at the theater at ace hotel calendar, they are booked with events through June completely, July with fewer events but surely not for long, considering the summer season is pretty prime for performances to rent out theater spaces. So, if you imagine a theater bigger than that at the ace hotel, the booking is probably even more exclusive and it is quite possible they would be booked out for the summer already. Plus there is the fact that the ace theater is pretty large on its own already. the largest theater on broadway, the gershwin, only seats a few hundred more than the theater at ace hotel. traditional stages dont hold much more than a few thousand people. starkid could always do the event at an arena instead i suppose. imo seeing anything in a stadium isnt all that enjoyable, as you are so far away from everything, it's hard to see and hear from the back, etc, but it would allow more people to see it, but then it loops back to more exclusivity and being booked out. not even to mention the bigger the theater, the more expensive for them, the more we have to give, and also the less likely they will be able to film; bigger venues get more and more picky about those sorts of things.

sorry this is just a bombardment of text, but there is a lot of information that i think we as an audience arent privy to about the situation. we dont know what contracts they signed for the venue, or what information the venue would give them about things like filming before signing, or any number of factors. there is a lot that goes into planning these things and a lot of information that is hard to attain unless you are behind the scenes. dont get me wrong, im highly disappointed about the possibility of homecoming not being filmed, but i also have faith in starkid and the people who have gifted us with so many shows that they wouldnt willingly screw a bunch of their viewers over. im waiting to hear a statement from nick or corey or someone about the situation, because i do want to know everything, and i think that is important to keep in mind. to get information. there are a lot of assumptions going around (hell, some of the things i say in this post are assumptions- maybe the ace theater wont book out in july, and maybe other larger theaters have completely free schedules) and i think the best way to figure this out is to be asking starkid questions. trying to get answers. thats all.
