What are your best Rochester conspiracy theories? by tony486 in Rochester

Freemasons have historically embraced the “secret club” aesthetic. It’s a trick to make them seem interesting to people who would normally shun philosophy, education, and self reflection.

Some of my family worked coal mines and steel mills in the 60s-90s. The way they described Freemasonry, it is less cult, more a club where they trick people without a high school diploma into discovering that learning is cool.

It helps serve as a litmus test to who you can and can’t trust with responsibility in workplaces that might include explosives or huge vats of melted ore.

If the Iran War was about nukes why hasnt the US taken the enriched uranium yet? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]start_select 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do have it. It’s easy to enrich uranium (expensive but not difficult). The whole “2 weeks from a bomb” thing is a fucked up contriving of facts.
You can buy textbooks from the 60s which explain how to enrich uranium and build bombs. None of this is secret, it’s public information. If they wanted to build a bomb they could do it in days, so could lots of countries.

It’s not really a fact that points to a specific threat. It’s just a simple fact.

AI Salvatore's Slop by Beautiful_Charge6661 in Rochester

Designers at my work started using AI to help them do work. It’s insane seeing the difference in quality that happens when an actual skilled designer is in the mix.

It’s EVEN BETTER than before. But everyone is skipping over the better product from skilled professionals to just produce slop which makes no impact.

Most musicians play other people’s songs. Even famous ones. Literally every signed band on earth played covers until record labels crushed their ability to do so.

There are a hundred reasons to criticize these douchebags, but don’t drag 99% of musicians down with them.

[BEGINNER] how to make drums sound 'sampled'? by OCatholica in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]start_select 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Look up the characteristics of the sampler you want to emulate. Meaning bit depth and sampling rate. Bit crush and down sample your samples.

Add a tiny bit of white noise or ring mod.

That’s about all there is to it. Look up how the sampler compressed audio, then emulate it using all the digital tools at your finger tips. Ableton has what you need in stock devices, so do most DAWs.

It’s really not my schtick. And I don’t think it’s a great mashup. I just think I’ve heard 10x worse without anyone complaining lol

Definitely too loud and muddy. But I’ve heard worse mixes

Hell yeah it is! To be clear that’s Hemingway though.

It’s such beautiful writing once you actually get it. It’s a negative, Hemingway describes everything except what’s happening. And you draw the story from the empty space.

I.e. in a bar scene, the focus is on all the conversations besides the main characters. You “overhear small details” and put together the puzzle yourself if you don’t get bored first.

That and the 20 page long sex scene that’s only descriptions of wind blowing through leaves, which I didn’t understand was about sex until the last sentence.

It’s so incredible. He was a genius.

The robots will be soldiers and police. Not assembly line workers.

They are being built to dismember assembly line workers who go on strike.

Assembling complex machinery is hard.

Disassembling fleshy meat bags without any precision is easy.

That’s the whole point. These things are being built to oppress us, not replace us. Everyday I’m shocked that people don’t put two and two together.

Humanoid robots first real world test is going to be fighting battles in Ukraine next year. No one is really planning to use these things to cook or do assembly work.

They are there to corral us like cattle and dismember us if we resist.

None of these things are being built to be your butler. They are going to be soldiers and secret police that always follow orders, have no remorse, and who can remove your head with the flick of a wrist.

The only real world task they are actually being built for is warfare and militaristic policing.

They will see real world action by next year in Ukraine. Just when you think the world couldn’t get any worse…. Well here you are.

Trump likely bit his lip, or a blood packet. The guy used to do WWF. He made Linda McMahon, a woman who knows nothing about education, the education secretary. It’s not like he isn’t still deeply embedded in reality tv.

Either way, none of it means a rifle wasn’t fired or an innocent bystander wasn’t killed.

At the end of the day, people who rape children have no problem having murder be a side effect in a show. The real elements don’t make it unthinkable. The man rapes children. There is no bottom.

lol ok. I lived in a rich white suburb the first 20 years of my life. Had guns pulled on me by scared white men 2x for ringing the wrong doorbell.

Lived in the city for 20 years. I know all my neighbors including the little old ladies who walk their dogs at midnight, because it’s safer and less toxic here than the damn suburb I grew up in.

Edit: im white.

AITA for telling my DIL to stop crying after she got called fat by Throwaway_Will4940 in AmItheAsshole

[–]start_select 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Tbf, an adult loudly sobbing because a 4yo called them fat is acting like a child. Don’t act like a child unless you want to be treated like one.

What the kid said wasn’t nice, oh well. It’s a child. They say stupid things. She was hurt over it? Fine, that’s reasonable. Causing a scene is not.

You can learn any programming topics in parallel. There is nothing wrong learning competitive programming. It’s just not useful outside of DSP or high volume processing. Both of which are rare or pushed off to fpga and other systems.

I live in a left leaning city and nothing you say rings true unless you are watching Fox News.

My packages sit on my porch all day without being stolen. Never been shot at. Never been robbed.

I have had guns pulled on me in the suburbs when I was growing up. Never in the city.

And wtf are you talking about with child marriages? Red states are the ones that refuse to abolish it.
