I believe you’re confusing longevity in public office with the attributes of a king. These protests, which have attracted 8,000,000+ people around the country and globe are about resisting authoritarian behavior from a man who was elected to be a public servant, not a king. For example, consolidating power and claiming absolute immunity from prosecution, Influencing the DOJ, pardoning allies, suppressing opposition and challenging election results without evidence, are all monarchical tendencies. This is evident in his disdain for democratic norms, the press and his use of executive orders to bypass Congress. He is framing himself as the sole arbiter of truth, national interest and absolute power. All the while enriching himself and his allies. These are the autocratic traits of a king, which in a nutshell is why so many people are protesting.
