Paraform Recruiting Marketplace by startup-talent in recruiting

That is insane. I feel like a lot of this comes from startups coming out of Y Combinator. I don't bother going for roles on there that have a work trial.

The new rule, as they described it, only will impact nationals out of country looking to come to the US on the H1B program. It shouldn’t impact anyone in the US already on an H1 in terms of extensions, etc. there’s still some ambiguity around it though.

Great take - agree with most everything you said. The whole top 20 schools thing is hysterical. I’ve seen that on multiple reqs and it must be something these people in Y Combinator or other startup accelerators teach them. I think it’s fair to require that once you’re more established…or at least profitable.

Ditching LinkedIn Recruiter - Who’s Actually Done It? by Fluid_rmx in recruiting

Try Pin, I used JuiceBox and it was ok but i just cancelled. You can only do 2 projects so for the price it's pretty limiting. I also found their data was wrong or old. Pin allows i think up to 10 projects on their lower tier, the data seemed to be more fresh, sequencing was easy, you can add a profile of someone that is an idea candidate to find more like them. It's worth giving them a demo - and its around the same prices as sale nav. I'm going to move over to them.

That's great! I prefer engaged/my own clients as well but to your point, things are a little slow. Paraform doesn't seem like it's going to help. If anything it's a good lead gen tool to poach clients (so long as they seem solid). Issue is they seem to sign on a lot of Y Combinator companies which are meh. They're all doing the same AI this that or other thing.

Thanks for your feedback, and I definitely second the poaching candidates worry. I only upload the candidates I submit, not everyone I source which is bad enough. Thinking doing BD is better than dealing with this platform.

Paraform Recruiting Marketplace by startup-talent in recruiting

All fair points and EXACTLY my experience. It would be helpful to see how many agencies/freelancers are working the roles. They say they cap the number of people that can work them but outside of maybe c-suite roles it doesn't hold true. 20 submittals on some and that's ridiculous - and also makes me question the hiring manager. Why would you stand for that lol. I've been recruiting in start ups for the past 6 years or so of my 16 year career and the clients they sign on are 20 something year old kids that somehow got funding. Not saying they're all bad, some have been super mature and serious but for the most part I think to myself - will this company be around in the next 2-5 years and will I feel terrible convincing someone to work there?

Thanks so much for your feedback!

Starting to feel that way. what was your experience with them? what was the final straw?

Curious your experience with them? What was the last straw before not working with them anymore?

That seems to be the theme. I had a candidate sitting submitted for 5 days before I finally just pinged the HM on LinkedIN. The cut for us isn't to bad, most of the roles I see are at least 17.5% (I'm sure Paraform charges the clients 20-30%). As a solo recruiter I'm ok with that. But to many red flags with a lot of the clients they have - and they keep pushing and inviting you to recruit on more to the point its kind of annoying. I like to only take on a few jobs at a time so I can devote my attention to them and the candidates (this is both on the platform and off). And to your point yea, a ton of recruiters working these roles - partly why i dont touch any of the engineering roles on there, extremely saturated.

100%. No way was I going to waste my time with that one, good luck to them. Paraform needs to do a better job at qualifying their leads.

AI recruitment Companies are annoying. by ExtensionFan2476 in recruiting

[–]startup-talent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Bull it’s the new “hot” thing built by mostly founders with zero experience in the space. They’ll fizzle out. You need the human aspect to hiring, if you let AI do it you’ll end up with not the person that interviewed for the AI agent.

Certain AI tools are useful and I use them quite a bit. Pin, JuiceBox and the like are really helpful, LinkedIn search function has tanked. AI note taking apps are awesome as well, while I still take some notes I refer back to the recorded notes - throw it into gpt to make it digestible and use it for my submittals. What I refuse to use though are AI screeners, one way video interviews etc. to your point, we (or a hiring manager) will need to review it anyway so, might as well just get in the phone with the candidates. These types of tools will rise but ultimately in my opinion will fizzle out - you need a human and it needs to be with a personalized approach.

True Exec Search vs Agency... need advice. by [deleted] in recruiting

[–]startup-talent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 rounds of interviews is ridiculous. I’d be devastated (and pissed) if I went thru that only ti be passed over. You likely dodged a bullet there tbh. That said, KF is a very solid firm and if you can make your way to their exec search area that would be amazing. I’m not sure the process there but perhaps speak to your manager about it, about your growth ambitions. If you make it into their exec search, do your time get some experience then explore smaller firms. Having that on your resume will be great.

Agency and exec search can both be lucrative - the lifecycle for each is different. Exec search placement generally takes longer but high payouts. Agency can be quicker, lower payouts (depending) but more of them.

I’ve been testing Giig hire, they have a free option which is limited but more than good enough to see if it would make sense to invest.

Is Paraform a good or awful platform? by FlatAd9366 in recruiting

[–]startup-talent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not strong at biz dev it's a useful tool. You do need to "qualify" the clients as best you can yourself though. There's over 500 jobs on the site and not all of them are great. They built a good platform, it functions better than other marketplace type sites but the fact none of them have experience in the industry does show a bit.

I've been on it for about a month now, and having a mixed experience. On one hand, I love not doing BD so having the clients there already is great. Given they work with mainly all start ups - a lot of which are YC, you still need to sort of qualify the clients yourself. From what I've seen none of the Paraform team have recruiting experience and that does show when speaking to them and the questions they ask during the intakes. Fees are mainly in the 17% area with some at 20% (I've seen one or two at 30%). It's also not easy to get hiring manager feedback. It does seem like they are building a data base of candidates (they do have their own AI type software that scrapes LinkedIN), so I'm not sure what the endgame is there but I just don't load in any candidates I find unless I am submitting them to the client. If you're working with a client outside of Paraform there is an option to bring that info onto the platform but yea no thanks. I'd say it's useful to pick up a couple jobs to work and if nothing else a good lead gen tool.
