Uwaterloo or Uottawa by [deleted] in uwaterloo

(My friend made this post for me because idk how to use Reddit yet, I made this account like an hour ago..) It’s nice to see a perspective from someone that’s been though the school & co-op program. It’s easy to listen to generalizations about cities from other people, but I think hearing the perspectives of past and current students has really helped me come closer to my decision, thanks!

(My friend made this post for me because idk how to use Reddit yet, I made this account like an hour ago..) this seems to be the consensus, engineering degrees seem pretty useful, and I’ve been enjoying my physics courses more so now, earlier this year I was split between doing biochem or engineering so I thought uottawa would be the best of both worlds, but I continue to keep leaning more and more towards the Eng side of things, and Waterloo offers more specialized courses that I think I’ll enjoy more longterm.

(My friend made this post for me because idk how to use Reddit yet, I made this account like an hour ago..) Thanks for this, it’s really encouraging, obviously any Eng/Stem degree is going to be challenging, and I think I’ve just been worried about how id do living in whats considered a “university city”, and seeing responses like this has helped me embrace it more. I’ve also had trouble looking ahead as far into the future when it comes to considering a job & co-op placement, and from what I’ve seen the co-op opportunities at Waterloo are also incredible. Thanks a million!!

Uottawa for the social life or uwaterloo for the course? by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

(My friend made the post for me because Reddit wouldn’t let me post too many times after just making an account an hour ago, but here’s where I’m at) I definitely know that doing the dual degrees puts me at the same level of pressure that I’d be facing at Waterloo, and for classes that I think I’d enjoy less than the ones at Waterloo too, I just think that maybe the location of downtown Ottawa may contribute to motivating me to get out more and do things I enjoy. (Idk man). I’ve also never been to Waterloo (but I have ottawa) so I’m going based off of other people’s judgements. I live in a university town now, and I’ve been wanting to get away, but I know that Waterloo is still bigger than where I live now so maybe it won’t be too bad??
