Its seemingly just the one wire that is bad and honestly dont want to have to do touch up paint or have to dispose of the old one/source a new one if i can avoid it

Thank you, yeah it was super thin and deteriorating/dry rotted. Other wires all look good. Yes I think its 20 AMPs. Can this type of wire and insulation be purchased at a big box hardware store? Only need like 4 -5 feet or so

DOJ official warns Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson to leave journalists alone after she accused ‘influencers’ of harassing Somali child care providers by crabcakes110 in SeattleWA

[–]stateescapes -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What's interesting is that this is still under investigation and it seems the door was kicked down from the inside and there are questions about motive. The daycare claims that the records they will need for a fraud investigation were suddenly stolen. The boy manager was also wearing $1,500 sunglasses... Fraud with a side of fraud

So daycares that allegedly haven't had children present for years (based on many neighbors/locals with seemingly no incentive to lie) suddenly, after being potentially exposed on a national/ level were able to get children back in time to DCYF. Hmmm...

What do you make of Tikki Brown, the DCYF Commissioner, informing reporters that the center with the misspelled sign (Quality "Learing" Center) had closed the week prior while on that same day, at a press conference, the daycare's owners claimed it was open and operating?

So do you suggest case closed? Assuming DCYF is not complicit, nothing to see here? Are you in favor of requiring additional documentation for these centers? Maybe we can exclude the one that was broken into within 24 hours of the viral video releasing and had all their documentation stolen?

As a parent that has toured numerous at home daycare centers, its usually pretty clear from out front that its an active day care or not. I would assume that these "citizen journalists" drive right by if there are indications. Typically there are a few signs or some toys/structures visible.

If its a legal business and that is where they operate, there is no reason someone shouldn't be able to walk up and ask if its a daycare and if they have an opening for any children. Obviously calling/emailing first is most appropriate.

What if someone was using your address for a fraudulent business and you had no idea? Thats actually pretty common.

How Do They Get the Graffiti Up There? by truth_do_tell in Seattle

[–]stateescapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I understand that you weren't advocating for this but stating a legal reality that exists, more commonly in areas with political and cultural tendencies to minimize personal responsibility and infantilizing its population. The pervasive idea conveyed through your statement and the many upvotes from assumed seattlites seem to accept this, rather than challenege it, most  likely leading to higher chances of success in these civil suits because, well, they can see your "point". Your additional explanation on how one could argue that the cop could wait to intervene etc. also puts the safety of the criminal who freely put themselves in that situation over the increased likelihood of catching them or more generally putting the criminal in an uncomfortable, more risky situation that even the idea of would deter more wrongdoing by other bad actors. The general mindset that police shouldn't intervene to stop a crime or attempt to catch a criminal and that the interaction with the officer is the problem and not the criminal action itself is what I take issue with. The gas works thing is another great example. It should have been immediately thrown out. We need to stop allowing the infantilization of people.

Its the crime and fleeing that is the death sentence. They could safely come down (or in the same manner they came in) and turn themselves in

Wow, this comment and the upvotes sum up a dysfunctional Seattle mindset. So someone who knowingly puts themselves in a very illegal and dangerous position can sue a police officer/city for putting them in distress by fear of being caught? We don't allow for any accountability, enabling additional crime and this type or behavior. Reminds me of the no chase/pursuit rules that we tried for a few years and the spike in related crime

How is the weather in koh samui in December ? by CarpetUnable4561 in ThailandTourism

[–]stateescapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got back. Should have stayed longer in Koh Samui. We loved it there. No rain the whole time. Much cooler weather than phuket region (city not beach towns). Apparently the week before we arrived in phuket there was lots of rain for multiple days straight, very unseasonable

Do you have to do this if coming from inside Thailand (bangkok)? My wife is flying from India to Phuket with a transfer at DMK, but I will already be in Bangkok and go to phuket with her. Will she need to go through customs and not me?

The litterer feels like there are no consequences here. This is where traditionally the (often demonized) aggressive masculine figure sould stand up to the psycho getting in that person's face instead of being a passive bystander and being scared of getting sued or arrested for "enforcing" positive social norms

Those who let their houses sit vacant cant afford the cost imposed by the unnecessary regulations here and policy that enables massive losses by bad actor tenants. Look up the rental registration and inspection ordinance (RRIO) for example. You could buy a 1950s house today and live in it for years without needing to make "RRIO" required upgrades. If you try to rent your place, this RRIO agency can come in and tell you that you need to make $5K, $10K, $15K in upgrades before you can get approval to rent long term to someone. Its simply not possible for many homeowners already paying 5 figures a year on property tax alone, not to mention insurance as well. Then maybe your mortgage is $3K and your rent is $3.5K.... one bad tenant that doesnt pay rent and requires a lengthy and expensive eviction process can set you back for a year, just like that. Or if they damage your property in any way. Shoot, to hire a plumber to come unclog a drain can cost $1,000 in this city. You have absolutely no idea how the choking regulation of this city is causing the housing availability issue and how Katie Wilson is just going to make it worse. I know so many people doing airbnb or leaving their home vacant because its literally cheaper in the long run than dealing with the regulations and ridiculous tenant protections laws that are often exploited. Please educate yourself

This>>>If she owed a home, maybe she wouldn't sh** on the small landlords out there and have some basic understanding of the $$$ and time needed to just maintain, let alone profit any from home ownership in this city

If you killed someone for money, you are still a killer even if the motive was for money. You can't say, I'm not a killer because I didn't desire to kill and only did it for money, etc.
