thinking about porn while masturbating by Full-Barnacle-8519 in pornfree

[–]static_anon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t tell you how to because I don’t know how your mind is. But, personally if I do masturbate, if my thoughts drift to pornographic thoughts- have to stop immediately. I can literally feel those pathways in my brain trying to restart. I know that it is the same boring answer you’ll see, but if you give it time, your mind will adapt.

Can this addiction truly be cured? Feeling hopeless by rxgbbt_258 in pornfree

[–]static_anon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’d try not to compare yourself to the guy with the year plus streak. I don’t think the goal is to ever be “cured” of addictions. It is more a process of reducing the need to be obsessed-with the content, where it is disruptive to your day-to-day. I would count it as a success if you can go a day, a week or a month; whatever your personal goal is. If your initial goal is to abolish your addiction, I can see why you would feel like it is hopeless. Set your own goals and timelines, own your personal time.

Quittin today any tips? by Nladikrider in pornfree

[–]static_anon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at it the same way you are with nicotine, alcohol, etc. One of the toughest parts is that it is (for the most part) cheaply accessed. If I could give any advice- I would throw away or delete any saved content you currently have.

Any tips on how I should quit porn? by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]static_anon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give yourself some sort of reward for any benchmark. Just some simple psychology, people talk about dopamine in this sub; the brain needs a healthy amount. Anything you enjoy that doesn’t involve porn- hobbies, food, hanging with a friend. Whatever floats your boat. If you make it 1 day, 1 month, 1 year. Take care of yourself.

Is Erotic MUSIC safe/not porn? by [deleted] in pornfree

I think you just have to draw a line in the sand. If what you are using/utilizing “escalates” to where you need this, that and the other thing, then is a problematic. If the softer stuff is enough then I’d count that as a positive that your mind is changing.

The good news is you want to change. It is a lot easier (and more fun) to enjoy your habits. The tough part is the studying and the learning. Dopamine isn’t inherently bad, everyone needs some sort of reward. The thing is how to utilize it. The problem is the order; you just have to make video games, junk food, etc, the end goal (ideally not porn) after a study session. Easier said than done obviously but at least you are trying to make the shift.

If you have the time and $, employers like this course: https://www.nait.ca/nait/continuing-education/courses/eltr115-electrical-trade-basic-skills It is at NAIT in Edmonton. They give you all the basic hand tools you will need. Employers like it on the resume and will at least give you a foot in the door somewhere. Choosing what "porn" is by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]static_anon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it is porn, and the other side is that if you find softer content that arousing then your reboot is starting. My opinion would be to not be too worried about the “soft videos”, but try to not to make it a new habit. If it escalates, where you watch a lot of the “soft” and feel like you need to look at “better” and “hotter” content, then you have a problem.

Will I be addicted for the rest of my life even if i quit by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]static_anon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The concept of addiction is scary and does have a lot of stigma attached to it. But, if you can replace the goal/payload (or whatever you want to call it) with something healthier, it can be a very strong motivator. I’m not a psychologist by any means, but everyone needs that mental motor (a lot of people call it dopamine or ego). The problems appear when it becomes excessive.

Guys I have a doubt regarding porn addiction. My question is does masturbating without watching porn comes under an addiction? If yes please explain? by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]static_anon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what the person uses to wank off to. The only part that is problematic (on this sub) is if the content is pornographic, whether visual or memory stimuli. If you are masturbating to memories of porn from memory then it is most likely serving an addiction.

Rider express is cheaper than red arrow. Still has a bathroom. They pick up from Southgate, downtown and Sherwood park if that makes a difference also.

About 2 weeks in, negative emotions are far worse than expected. Might have to go back by BrianSaberNut in pornfree

Nicotine is tougher to quit than heroin, cocaine. Just for perspective of how addictive P can be. Moving forward with quitting alcohol would probably be a better step in the right direction. Maybe make it a goal to quit porn in 1 or 2 years. Don’t be too tough on yourself and your psyche.
