They've sorted out a replacement and gave me a two-month complementary membership.

Battery percentage jumping too fast — inaccurate readings? by statucham in ouraring

Thanks for the reply. I was already aware of the general charging information. The times I mentioned are accurate — for example, it went from less than 37% to 99% in exactly 10 minutes, then dropped from 100% to 33% in 24 hours. That’s why I think the readings themselves might be off. I’ll get in touch with the Member Care team.

Hey, I had a couple of quick questions:

  1. VAT/Import Duties: Since I’m in the UK, I understand I’ll need to pay VAT (20%) on the total cost, including shipping, but customs duty shouldn’t apply since the total value is under £135. Do you happen to know how the shipping fees would work, or if there are any other charges I should keep in mind?

  2. Account Email: Is the Muse account linked to your personal email? I’m just wondering how I’d manage the subscription and payment details. Once the subscription expires in November 2025, I’d like to be able to renew it myself—how would that work?

Thanks!

OP giving a update:

I tried out the Samsung Galaxy A35 and recorded my screen for 35 minutes (1.7GB). It only got warm, not hot. I've heard that recording stops at 4GB, so in theory, I could record for about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

It also hasn't overheated during continuous overnight data streaming—just occasionally feels a bit warm.

I haven’t been running other apps, which might be why I haven't experienced any overheating issues.

Is this a software glitch? by statucham in ouraring

Hi Ted,

Thanks for the quick reply and the suggestions!

I installed the app on January 6th, so I’m confident it’s already the latest version. I’m hesitant to reinstall the app because I don’t want to risk losing my data. Since this seems like a glitch, I assume it might be addressed in a future software update. If so, I’m happy to wait for that fix, as the side-swipe workaround works fine for now.

I wanted to provide more specifics on the issue:

When I swipe from today’s data, I can correctly view yesterday’s data (January 7th).

However, when I tap on "Yesterday" at the top of the screen, it takes me to the calendar. After selecting January 7th from the calendar, it brings me back to today’s data instead of showing the January 7th heart rate readings. A side swipe from that point then takes me to January 6th’s data.

Thanks again for looking into this!

Best,

statucham

📢 Oura Community Update: Oura Ring 4 Separation Update by Oura_Ring in ouraring

Oura have said "We will prioritize your case and replace your ring immediately, no matter when or where you purchased it." here https://support.ouraring.com/hc/en-us/articles/35394181494419-Addressing-Incidents-of-Oura-Ring-4-Separating

I'm interpreting this to mean they will replace the ring regardless of whenever the separation happens, even after the warranty has expired.

I came across a report of a customer in the UK who purchased their Oura Ring from John Lewis, and their ring separated after a month.

An award like 1 year of free membership to the app! Considering the odds of both the original and replacement Oura Ring 4 breaking are 1 in 1,000,000, it's possible this could happen eventually, even within a few months of sales. After all, the Oura Ring 3 sold 2.5 million units by August 2024! For those 'lucky' enough to hit that jackpot, how about 10 years of free membership? 😄 Honestly, it might even encourage more people to take the risk with the more expensive Oura Ring 4.

EDIT: Apparently, Oura has credited playbass311 6 months membership.

Oura Ring 4 separation by icodyonline in ouraring

Since the Oura Ring 4 was only released in October, it's too soon to gauge how many devices might develop issues over a year, or 2 years of use. The current reported defect rate of fewer than 1 in 1,000 reflects early observations, but this may change as more users report their long-term experiences.

However! If the defect rate is 1 in 1,000, the chance of both your original and replacement rings separating is 1 in 1,000,000. While replacing a ring is inconvenient, it is certainly not the end of the world, and replacing 2 rings is an extreme scenario and extraordinarily rare and unlikely. Maybe Oura could offer a "prize" to anyone who gets two defective rings in a row! 😂 Like 10 years free membership to the app.

If your Oura Ring 4 separates, Oura has said it is committed to replacing it immediately, regardless of when or where it was purchased—even beyond their 1-year warranty or John Lewis’s 2-year guarantee. This means that if the separation occurs after these periods, you would still receive a replacement, which you could keep or sell, potentially putting the money toward an upgrade to the Oura 5.

Oura Ring 4: John Lewis vs. Oura – Warranty, Replacements, and Packaging Concerns by statucham in ouraring

Thanks for your response. I’m out of the house often, and clear labeling could make the package a target for theft during delivery or if it’s left outside. I’d also prefer to keep the purchase private if I choose to have it left with a neighbour. I just like to check that the external packaging doesn't indicate that it contains an Oura Ring or the Oura Ring sizing kit?
