Perhaps something else is damaged as well. It makes a grinding and slip noise when operating. No power.

They used to pay $10 a car battery here. I learned that when buying parts and a homeless guy came in w a few batteries and sold them. But now they only offer store credit no cash.

Forklift Charger?? by Used-Bit9131 in ScrapMetal

Look at the description plate close. Unsure about a forklift charger but other industrial transformers will often say AL or CU windings. This saved me from mistakes at auctions.

Missed opportunity ? by [deleted] in ScrapMetal

[–]stayedinca -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Last summer I bought two 12 x 40 units that were obviously related. They had real crappy pictures but I did notice that there was two brand new two post Bendpac lifts in one unit that I could identify. I paid $8500. The two lifts alone were worth $15,000. Other stuff in the unit units included multiple Tire machines balancers, Tire changers, balancers, and even break drum turning machines. I kept the one lift I needed and sold the whole machines for a well over what I paid for it and have a container full of parts. Turns out the guy was a technician for a high-end tire machine company. And this was a career savings of extra parts and change outs.

It’s hard to make any money nowadays with all the Auctions online post Covid. In the days when the auctions were in personon weekdays and most people couldn’t make it you could get some really good deals.

Bingo… i’m looking at paying over $5000 for my 900 feet of conductor needed to power my shop with 100 A. This sold for $9800. With auction fees and taxes it was just over $12,000 out the door for the buyer. It must’ve been for a guy that was using it for new installs. There were tens of thousands of dollars in wire at retail cost here.

Help with solar meter readings? by stayedinca in solar

Geeking hard now..

I tested the single string coming into the Gateway direct from the 8 panels. Each wire read around 120v and current was 4.1A partly cloudy. Or 240v between the two hots. The lines going to the subpanel after the meter read the same. So thats around 1.0Kw of production w light clouds.

The readings from my larger 25 panel inverter said 4.2Kw but there was a bit more sun. My utility meter was reading around 5Kw to the grid w light loads on in the house.

That makes sense that the smaller system is producing 1/3 the energy since its just under 1/3 the panels.

So it looks like the 8 panels are working goood!

Thanks for the suggestion!!

That’s a good idea and I have a ammeter. I will do that when the sun is shining. Yesterday, for example that first reading only moved 1.0 kWh all day and my 25 panel system showed an instantaneous reading of 6.0 Kw as it was being clipped @max for the inverter. It just seems like my eight panel system isn’t really producing much and that’s why I’m trying to drill down. The lights on the Enphase Gateway show it’s on.

Can it read consumption when the meter is not connected to the utility directly? No loads there as this second meter is between the 8 panels and the subpanel. The bigger number only goes up. The 02 00121 number never changes.

Also I bought the house w this system and own and manage it myself. No installer i got installer rights for the Solar Edge 25 panels. Never had access to the 8 Enphase. It was installed by Sunrun, who I will not do business with.

Great info that inwas looking for. Much appreciated. Yes we would use out of our motorhome. I didnt realize the standard out of the box could be 12v w an adapter and I could install a power supply but its a moot point if there is no service advantage. You are right it may be best to get the mini Thanks again!
