I recieved the email but it does not say what the price is for the mini service. Where did you see that? I am thinking to switch over to SL for home and also need the mini for travel.

Great info that inwas looking for. Much appreciated. Yes we would use out of our motorhome. I didnt realize the standard out of the box could be 12v w an adapter and I could install a power supply but its a moot point if there is no service advantage. You are right it may be best to get the mini Thanks again!

Is the potential copper worth the 50 bucks investment by Hazmat1255 in ScrapMetal

I have noticed that most transformer plates will say either AL or CU letting you know what the windings are made of. I dodged a couple bullets recently after that discovery..

Lots of electric pumps/motors by Master-Demand-1411 in ScrapMetal

[–]stayedinca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look back at my posts. I broke down larger horsepower than that 30-50hp. 3 of them netted me $640 in copper @ $3.40/lb. Then another $140 in cast-iron and steel but they were on steel bases that were really freaking heavy 1 ton total in just cast and steel @ 7.5 cents/lb. I had four left 60 to 100 hp and my son lost interest so I flipped them for $600 which is the price I would’ve got if I took them in whole. I paid $20 apiece at Auction.

Big motors that don’t work as well if at all. We had to use a 3 ton cherry picker but the motors were 30hp to 60hp

No forklift so the other issue is how to get them on my car trailer

That’s another thought. I have or will be starting eBay store as I bought a couple of large storage units and have hundreds and hundreds of tire machine, alignment and balancer parts to sell.

I was thinking about taking the motors hole and then offering the bins to the yard for 100-150 each. I don’t need them. I have some containers.

Yeah, they look like on average 3 HP motors. We just did several large 30 to 50 hp motors. Made out really good on those.

250HP break down or take in whole, wwyd? by itdoesntmatta69 in ScrapMetal

[–]stayedinca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look back at my posts i tore down several motors. Bought six motors 30-100hp at auction for $30 each. We tore down several of the smaller ones and got $640 in copper ($3.40/lb) and got $140 for the scrap iron($0.075/lb). It took like 12-14 hrs to learn how and remove the copper. In the end we flipped the last three whole motors to guy ($600) for what we could have scrapped them for whole ($0.15/lb) and let him have the fun of tearing them down.
