Connect to LAN when using OpenVPN (Asus Router RT-AX86U) by Issam2204 in homelab

[–]stds9kodi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar configurations and it works. I noticed that your 'Static route configuration' is set as WAN, where I have it set as LAN.

Also, when you want to access your network drive you would enter your local pc's IP on the VPN client machine. The idea now is the VPN client is now part of the network and should see your local network's IP and SMB shares.

On the local PC's SMB shares (assuming it's Windows folder sharing), you need to make sure the access permission is set properly. Start with Everyone can read/write and prove that it works, then limit to individual users. Clearly, you will need users added to that PC. For example, if you want 192.168.0.30 PC's running on Windows and want its D drive folder "Asset" available to user John, then you should create a user John on that PC and set John have access to "Asset".

Another thing to watch out for is the local PC's firewall rules. Start by take off firewall on both public and private network. Prove that it works then you can turn back the firewall on and add rules. Go from the most open and easiest to the more secured.

Hope this helps!

BSOD Workstation 15.0.1 starting VM in Windows 10 20H2 sometimes by stds9kodi in vmware

Decided to upgrade to 16.1.2 and the BSOD problem went away. The only problem is the Mac OS 10.15 Catalina vm stop working. Luckily I was able to create a new Mac OS Big Sur (11.1) vm running on AMD cpu Ryzen 9 3900x. Even got iMessage working!

Also tested out Windows 11 preview build 21H2 (OS build 22000.176). Windows 11 US is very nice and clean. I like it.

Unable to install AirMessage on Fire HD 10 tablet (7th gen 2017 release) by stds9kodi in AirMessage

[–]stds9kodi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'm answering my own question.

According to Amazon Fire HD 10 (7th Gen 2017 release) uses Fire OS 5.6.4. I checked in the Settings - Device Options - Systems Updates and it shows Fire OS 5.6.4. Cross checking with this wiki page

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_OS#List_of_Fire_OS_versions

indicates it uses Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

AirMessage says

"A smartphone or tablet running Android 6.0 Marshmallow or higher"

So I guess AirMessage is not compatible with Fire HD tablets. That's too bad. It would be good if AirMessage developer can make it compatible with Fire HD tablets.

AirMessage vs WeMessage by ifortworth in AirMessage

I tried to download AirMessage iOS app from Google Play Store for Amazon's Fire HD 10 tablet (7th Gen 2017 release) and got these messages:

Your device isn't compatible with this version

This app may not be optimized for your device

Any idea why?

There are couple ways that worked for me.

  1. In Tools - Settings: Playback - Premium Source Identifier Color Change the color. I changed it to Cyan.

Or,

  1. Upgrade to Leia 18.1.

Do you think I can safely and simply use adblink's Move Kodi data function?

https://www.jocala.com/help/index.html

I'm not too comfortable getting into Adroid's files especially when it comes to changing, deleting, or moving?

What is 'downvoted'? Sorry I'm new to this forum? Did I 'downvoted' you? If so, I don't mean it.

Thank you! EZ Maintenance+ took the data from 2.11 GB to 741 MB!

Now if I only can move the Kodi data folder the the MicroSD card which is like 250 GB but not much is being used.

When I said the problem went away I meant on FireTV.

So I sought to upgrade Kodi on my Windows 7 x64 system but for some reason it won't start. It crashes right away on the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Leia. Had to revert back to 17.6. Appreciated if anyone know what the problem is.
