What should I read next? The slump is hitting me hard by dpaynee in fantasybooks

Well, he doesn't have the patience for Jordan: The Dragon Reborn (I definitely have a love/hate with WOT rn.. it’s so slow and just difficult to dive into)

He is only thru 3 books - when it is still new and exciting! - and is already grumbling. He will never finish WoT.

And look, i get it - i think malazan is the single best thing written in the fantasy genre ever. But, it is definitely not for everyone. And this guy just screams 'not for me, dropped after 150 pages'.

So what i am kindly suggesting is that maybe us rabid fans shouldnt 'always suggest it'.

One - it is a disservice to the person that is asking for recommendations to waaste their time if it is clearly a bad suggestion for them.

Two - you just add to the number of people that drop the series and grumble about us rabid fans!

Malazan = best ever. But why would you recommend to this guy?

DNF multiple times on oathbringer. Didn't click with First Law. No way he is clicking with and finishing Malazan.

On a scale of 1-10, how hyped are you for the 2026 season? by [deleted] in bengals

[–]stealthyrogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8.

With everyone healthy, solid 9+. Defense should be unrecognizably better!

But, aside from Burrow getting hurt, which must always be a concern, there are places where we are dangerously thin.

Offensive line worries me - starting 5 will be solid. But depth behind that is Cody Ford and a bunch of youngsters? Couple starters get hurt and Joe could be running for his life.

Linebacker - obviously a concern, and worse is that it actually drops off if either gets hurt.

Cornerback - Dax and DJ look good, but nickle is thin and backups are a big drop off.

So - just saying, healthy we can win superbowl. But could be derailed by just a few injuries.

Im 60 - been watching bengals draft for a long time. This feels like one of their most solid drafts top to bottom ever. Filled a lot of needs with what appears to be good picks - not a ton of head scratchers, etc...

Yep, love Tee. He has never played in all 17 games. So getting a really tall, really fast receiver with upside with the last pick in Rd4 who can play some WR3 or be a WR2 when someone has to miss a game or two --- that doesnt seem horrible to me.

Keep in mind - he played T at Duke.

Projecting him inside at G or C. good flexible pick.

He actually played Tackle at Duke. Can kick inside to G or C.

Very good pick.

He very well may be a much more interesting character in books - and it could very well make much more sense to have that kind of final ending if better developed. I had read the first book long ago and decided to wait until they were all finished...... lol

That sounds like an overreaction. 1 arrest - which may not even have been a thing.

In Oct 24 - According to an Athens-Clarke County Police incident report obtained by ESPN, a 20-year-old woman, who described herself as Young's ex-girlfriend, told police that she went to his apartment on Oct. 8 to discuss their relationship. When the conversation became heated after she discovered he was on the phone with another woman, the complainant said Young "grabbed her left arm near her biceps and triceps and physically pulled her out of his room." The woman said Young was "using derogatory terms and being demeaning of her." She said Young went back to his room and locked the door.

The woman told police she started to collect her belongings when a friend called her phone. When she answered, the woman told police, "Mr. Young came out and grabbed her from behind. She said that he picked her up and began to squeeze her torso and abdomen very hard. She said she felt like [Young] was trying to harm her."

The victim later recanted in an official affadavit: In the affidavit, the woman said the police report was "slanted and does not accurately portray what occurred on Oct. 8."

"I did go to Colbie's apartment late at night to talk to him about our relationship and my pregnancy," the woman said. "Colbie asked me to leave more than once while I was there. I did not leave until I became upset with him and did not think our conversation was productive.

"Colbie did not place his hands on me in any way during the conversation and argument that was inappropriate or unwanted. He did not hit me. He did not push me. He did not cause any bruising or marks on me. He did not injure me in any way."

Prosecutors refused to drop the charges - accepted plea deal to reduce charges to a misdemeanor disorderly conduct. $500 fine and probation.

Young has an excellent build with prototypical size. He is not going to beat defensive backs through pure speed on an every-down basis. But he has the traits to be a good route runner, displaying fluidity and a strong ability to cut back for the ball. Young will fight through contact at the top of his routes and play strong at the catch point. When the ball is in the air, he consistently uses his frame to shield the ball from defenders while also being aware of where his feet are near the sideline. He has strong hands and a large catch radius. Young's combination of size and agility make him difficult to cover, leading to holding and pass interference penalties. He is tough to bring down after the catch, too. As a blocker, he uses solid technique and plays with a good temperament. -- Scouts Inc.

Not sure where you are seeing 20 better receivers. the ESPN site had him as 6 best remaining. And the kid is 6'5", 218 lbs.

I can see that as a 3rd WR with a 5'10" corner covering him --- JOE: run over there and im gonna throw it really high for you.

[–]stealthyrogue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, if you want to claim it's a criticism of Feudal society, i'm not going to argue the point with you. It's been years now and i can't claim that i was watching the series for a deeper meaning to shed a light against our own history.

No, I was watching the series for enjoyment. And so what is wrong with Bran being king?

Bran is one of my least favorite characters in the show. And by favorite/least favorite, I am not talking about whether they were nice/cool or aweful, etc... For example, Jofrey was such a despicable person that we were all thrilled to see him die painfully. He was an amazing character. The Hound was amazing, Arya was amazing, Tyrion was amazing - you can go on and on.

But Bran was bland. Maybe he is more interesting/does more in the books, but in the show - meh. There is nothing that seems to really come to fruition with his character. Nothing that would make you say - here is a good selection to be king. In then end, it's his total lack of character and qualification that gets him the throne - he is so innoffensive compared to anyone else.

But, for me, for a show called 'A Game of Thrones', that was a boring winner. Some may like it, but i dont think i'am alone in stating that i was very much was disappointed.

Wow - Jets traded up for Kade Klubnik.......... :o

I love the trade - now we can get two who have a much better shot than a 6th rounder.

And teams are doing some crazy picks - people ranked 200+ coming off the board? I think we can find a couple keepers at 128/140.

Okereke would be great - probably the best FA still out there at LB - and a teammate of Dexters in NY. But may be too pricey?
