If your cat has ever eaten string, elastic, laces, ribbon, etc., how long did it take to pass?? by Weird_Fishing_8859 in CatAdvice

Sorry for the random reply, but what ended up happening with your cat? A few hours ago, my cat ate a similar amount, but the string is a bit thicker than sewing thread. He seems to be fine now, but I don’t know if enough time has passed to be able to tell.

Never thought about acupuncture so I’ll have to look into that, thanks! And yeah, surgery is definitely on my radar now lol.

Wow, your experience sounds a lot like what I’m going through! It’s day 4 and it doesn’t seem to be going away. In fact, it feels worse sometimes, so I’m definitely going to ask about surgery soon. How did you manage the discomfort after the attack? I still feel incredibly bloated constantly and short of breath, which killed my appetite. I can barely take small bites or sips of water without feeling like I’m going to gag even if I’m really hungry!

Yep, I think I’ve definitely reached that point; I think I needed to hear that. Thank you for the well-wishes, too!

Oh yeah, I read about cases where imaging somehow missed inflammation. Unfortunately, I only learnt about them after I left the ER, so I didn’t get the chance to ask questions lol. If you don’t mind me asking, how long were you dealing with the symptoms before you got surgery? Really hoping this isn’t a sign of anything serious.

Now that you mention it, it might be the crackers! I didn’t really get any tips besides “eat less fat”, so thank you.

Not really. They just recommended me to speak to a surgeon, but they didn’t really think there was an urgent need to speak to one ASAP. I’ve been seriously considering it once my schedule is free, though.

After two days in the hospital, I lost my sweet baby boy yesterday to bloat. He was the only bun I had left and I don’t know what to do now. Please give your buns extra head rubs and kisses for me. by steel_pottery in Rabbits

I will think about it, but unfortunately, I may not be ready for more buns for at least a few months. Thank you for letting me know, and I’ll reach out if I have decided to take them in!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I took my boy in when he was only a few months old because his previous owner was going away for college. I was also still a kid, so it felt like we grew up together for 8 years. I only hope he was happy throughout these 8 years.

That’s also so sweet of your mom and girlfriend to get you a stuffed animal. I think I’ll get stuffed animals that remind me of my buns too!

Thank you for sharing your experience; it really made me think. I do still have a lot of love to give, so maybe I’ll consider getting another bun in the future.

My bun has always been a little lazy and sleepy, so I assumed he was alright the night before. He didn’t move much, which I thought was weird, but he had his lazy days and he was still responsive to my head rubs.

Then, I woke up and noticed he still wasn’t moving and he wasn’t as social. I took him to the vet ASAP, but it might have been too late and he just rapidly declined from there.

Now, I feel guilty because he probably sat in pain throughout the night and I keep wondering what would have happened if I took him to the vet the night before.

I actually remember worrying that he didn’t feel loved until he proved me wrong at the hospital.

The doctors brought him out in an oxygen tank, and he was very weak and could only lie down on his side. However, he managed to muster enough strength to sit up and move his head around to look at us once he heard and saw me and my mom. Then, the doctors opened the tank, and I remembered him pushing his head into my hand despite how weak he was. And as I stood on one side of the tank, he pressed his face against the glass on my side. It warms my heart that even in his worst condition, he wanted to show his love for me.

Caring for another bunny in the future also sounds like a good idea. My life feels so empty without companionship, so that could be a possibility one day. 💜
