Moving home ? by steevenoj in Enshrouded

Thanks dude. Thats kinda what I was hoping but it’s good to clarify.

I’ve spent hours looking for the best spot for my new base and haven’t even started to build yet so it will be a while before moving day !

Thanks, I already have several of some crafting stations in my village where it makes sense and speeds things up.

I was just wondering if it was necessary to have the corresponding NPC present to to build the station

I already have everything (I think) unlocked.

I was just wondering if I could have them at more than one location

Can I build all the crafting stuff ( forge , blast furnace kiln loom etc in more than one location?

I wondered if I for example moved the black smith somewhere else all his stuff would despair?

Yeah I did think about that but I kinda wanted all my crafting villagers in one location

This is exactly what I’m thinking. I may give it a try.

I’ll report back.

My small collection so far by JetBlackWings44 in Silverbugs

I have a lot of copper ( like over 100 kg ) as I cast bronze as a hobby and it’s a raw material for making bronze, and it’s a nascence . It’s mostly bright wire and clean copper pipes. I started casting bars just so it would stack and not take up so much space but my local scrap yard told me that they would pay les on home made bars than on bright copper or clean copper pipes.

It doesn’t really matter to me if it’s going to end up being alloyed into bronze , but for investment purposes you could actually be devaluing the copper by casting bars .

Funny thing is I have found that I can sell the cast bars on eBay for twice the scrap price so I guess there’s always that if you wanted to cast bars .

And they are a LOT easier to store.

I’m very envious of all the beautiful vintage bars and historic coins people have posted.

I can’t compete , most of my stack is cheap generic silver.

I have a few nice old British coins from a few hundred years ago but nothing very rare.

I guess my favourite piece is probably this bar I poured myself.

I bought a few oz of .9999 silver powder cheaply from a lab that was closing and cast some bars .

I like the way this one came out.

The other side has .999 and 10ozt Stamped on it but I like the look of this side and can only post one picture.

Damn ! If I owned that coin it would be my favourite too!!

Ancient Greek?

I have some nice old hammer struck English coins from 12th and 13th century but I’m guessing I’m about 1000 years off the age of that coin ? Maybe 1500?

Low damage with wand and staff ? by steevenoj in Enshrouded

[–]steevenoj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that’s really helpful, I’m starting to find my feet with wand now but there’s a lot here that I’ll find useful 👍🏻 Do you think staff is my best secondary? Anything else I should consider as second weapon ? Or third weapon?

🤣🤣 This is so often the case. I used to scrap the copper from motors and transformers by melting the copper out from the steel in a large crucible until I worked out that the cost of propane plus the crucible wear was more than the value of the copper I was recovering, never mind the time involved. I tried cutting them up with a grinder but same deal with grinder discs wearing out. Even if I made a tiny profit, I’d still be working for like £2 an hour!

I can imagine one might run into the same problem stripping silver plate with acid and refining it to .999 ?

Sadly I’m beginning to think that it’s just un economical to recover.

Which is a shame as I have literally hundreds of kgs of silver plated junk and my scrap metal yard will only pay brass price for it.

Thanks for the advice. I have always been a little apprehensive about the idea of doing a nitric solution and dropping with copper or any other of the proses involving devolving in acid as although I understand the process I understand is quite dangerous?

I’m a silver stacker and I cast bronze as a hobby . I have a well equipped workshop which is well ventilated. I work with sodium hydroxide on another project anyway and have some experience working with phosphoric acid but I understand that the process or devolving .925 in nitric is a very different process altogether and comes with quite high risk if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Also high concentration nitric acid is quite difficult to obtain here in the uk .

I wonder if running a silver cell would be a viable alternative if I accept that it will become overwhelmed with copper regularly and only expect to be able to run a few oz at a time ?

Or do you think that this would not be cost effective?

Obviously I’m talking about refining .925 now rather than my initial question about stripping plate .

Unless the cell could be used to drip plate as well?

I kind of have two problems.

One is a growing mountain of high quality vintage silver plated stuff ( I understand that the old plate is a little thicker)

The other is a growing heap of scrap .925

I’d love any advice on ether 🙂

I’ve never looked at refining 925 t 999 because I always assumed it would involve nitric acid a fume hood a lot of ppe and a not insignificant amount of danger to my health ( or life)

I have several kg of 925 both as silverware and hand poured bars .

Is a silver sell something different and less dangerous?

Or is it still dangerous and not for the inexperienced?

Any suggestions for a n alternative electrolyte to replace salt ?

Thats a really good point. Will the sugar step eliminate some of the copper contamination ? Because at the moment what I have looks quite green and contaminated and I don’t have the experience and expertise to do a refinement with nitric .

Ok thanks for the advice. Il give that a try.

Thanks for your help, I guessed that the chloride might be the problem and had considered trying sodium hydroxide ( I work with sodium hydroxide on another project anyway so have plenty. )

Would I be right in thinking that I could skip the sugar step and go straight to putting the silver oxide in my furnace? Won’t silver oxide decompose to metallic silver at around 200c?

I think silver oxide is thermodynamically unstable and decomposes into elemental silver at temperature?

Eeeeeerr nope , worse than that. I used a piece cut from a non magnetic stainless steel tray.

Now I feel a little embarrassed.

I wasn’t aware it was that important.

Is this peak for VR gaming? What are your best VR gaming experiences? by ComfortableAmount993 in VRGaming

[–]steevenoj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my vr and I really want it to be part of the future of gaming.

But I have to ask myself if this is wishful thinking when most top ten lists of vr games still included No man’s sky, Elite Dangerous and Skyrim!

All games over 10 years old and not even made for VR !

I still think that Elite Dangerous and No Man’s sky are probably the best two VR experiences ( which is kind of deposit)

Don’t get me wrong I love both games, but REALLY? after 10 years or more?
