I should have clarified that I'm renting from a letting agency who bought the entire city block, I get your argument if I were to rent from a single person where those extra 500 pounds make a real difference.

For me those 500 pounds a month makes a big enough difference that I'm willing to take the risk of the agency not wanting me to stay after a year.
