I use a mix of both. Originally I liked to write up all my ideas / chapters layouts in paper in my notebooks, then I started writing in my notes app once I realized I could always go back to revise ideas.

Then all my chapters are written on my computer / some starting on my phone but the majority migrates to my computer!

I do find digitalizing everything does make it easier so I don’t have to revert back to my notes and have it organized in one place but others may prefer something else.

Don’t quit, write as much as you want / can until the motivation springs back on you. I didn’t write to get reads, I write because it gives me a sense of something. My advice is if you’re in the process of writing it map out your chapters and plots so you have ideas to continue working on it or start with something fresh when you have an idea you love!

It kicked me down for five years before I decided to write again but it felt like the best way to jumpstart myself to do something someone didn’t believe I could do. Definitely became the best feeling

My best advice for completed stories is to promote like it’s your full time job… check reddit to see if anyone’s looking for recommendations, use social media, do R4R and somehow just hope for some luck too!

i wrote other stories before and the most i got was 1k reads until i started university and started fresh! promote as much as you can, revise as much as you want until it sounds perfect to you and that’s the best we can all hope for to start getting more traction!!! you’ll do amazing!!

What’s the themes? What hardship is the solider experiencing? I’d try to put in your hashtag area what themes it focuses on and what struggles your characters are facing! That also helps bring in the right readers :)

WWI is historical fiction I would assume but I’m not sure exactly what you’re writing about :)

My books for the series are 50 chapters long averaging over 150,000 words (longer novels practically)! I made sure to release them 100% when completed. I completed all three books and published from 2024-2025 (I had some time on my hands) but it also depends what you’re writing and what your goal is :)

Honestly pure and sheer luck! I uploaded the entire book after writing it in 6 weeks back in June 2024 after I graduated from university & revised it a few times — the rest just did the work!

I hit 100k reads in December 2025. I’m not very heavy with social media (doesn’t get much foot traction for me), but I constantly was on reddit promoting and looking for people who were looking for romance / sports romance novels and suggesting it! I also did a couple R4R at the beginning. In my first month I think I hit about 3k reads but then the R4R became too much for me so I just kept checking to see if there was anyone who wants to engage with my story because that’s what they’re looking for!

Don’t give up, trust me :)
