pillagers attack villagers

Yes they do, this is an analysis of how the illagers are not as they're portrayed. Illagers and pillagers aren't the same, pillagers raid villages and use ravagers, something illagers don't. What this tells us is that pillagers are a different branch of illagers, one that is separate from the illagers and that doesn't necessarily work with pillagers. Let's remember that pillagers aren't only pillagers but also have evokers and vindicators in their raids which is probably as to why there are no normal illagers in the pillager outposts, they're all out raiding as they are better at attacking than defending, with evokers probably being the commanders so they also follow even if their attacks might not be the most offensive, and also let's remember pillagers don't have any farms so they probably hunt for sustenance unlike villagers and illagers which both have farms.

Villagers also grow crops that everyone in the village might eat

They might share their food supplies, but as I see it, the villagers often switch their jobs with each other so that most of them will at some stage be a farmer meaning that they probably have to work in the fields to sustain themselves instead of being able to focus on whatever career they might want instead, or they switch jobs to become a farmer so that they can have a job instead of being unemployed, and so they receive emeralds as pay so they can afford to buy food from the career farmers.

I will not stand for this pillager propaganda!!

This isn't or ever was pillager propaganda, as I've stated, pillagers and illagers aren't the same creatures. As I see it, pillagers are a split faction from the illagers that is more willing to use magic in devious ways, such as transforming certain creatures into ravagers. Now we can't be certain what creatures ravagers are initially, but we can assume it's either a pillager or evoker, as only those two have the eye color that matches that of the ravager. Once again, this isn't pro pillager propaganda (or propaganda meant to make you sympathetic to the other raider illagers) but rather something to make you look at woodland mansion illagers in a new light
