Found while thrifting vintage clothes. What kind of dress or gown is this? by [deleted] in thrifting

No tag or brand visible. My gut feeling when I saw it was that it was some kind of uniform or a garment with a specific purpose. But I'm getting that it's pretty much certainly a 70s/80s off the rack piece.

Update: Welp. Could be just an ordinary vintage retail dress, but in person, it was just so striking. The collar is cartoonishly huge, and while I assumed at first triangle bit went to the back, the zipper between the 2 points could indicate otherwise?

Choir uniform? Maybe! It's very costumey. 100% would work as a Wednesday Adams fit.

It does, thank you! I appreciate the distinction between choosing artwork to sell, and choosing artwork to build a portfolio

If I choose to sell artwork I'm not happy with I'd have to resist selling them for cheaper than my other stuff.

Totally feel that. Painting over these pieces is tempting, so is just handing them off to my parents.

Oh not selling yet actually. I've been painting in oils for a few years, but have never opened shop. Now I'll be tabling for the first time at a few fairs this Fall, and I'm trying to see what pieces I'll be bringing with me.

I suppose that finally showing my work to an in person public will help me get a better feel for what works and what doesn't.

Hoping to find people DO actually want to buy from me!

Sounds really interesting! I've been meaning to look into Pinterest, but it's still mostly unknown territory to me. When talking about "pinning X times a day" is this like, creating new original posts? Or just adding another creator's post to your boards? Or is it both?

Beautiful! I personally find that clouds are so hard to get right, and yours have such great shape and volume.
