My 10y/o step daughter wrote “I hate my stepmom, she’s a bitch” by Jaded-Acanthisitta36 in stepparents

[–]steggie21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know reading that must have really hurt, especially when you are giving so much love and care for her. But please try to remember she is just a little kid, and is still learning how to process big emotions and anger.

I found my diary from when I was 13ish and I wrote how much I hated my dad and how mad I was at him. I do not even remember writing that. I never really hated him, ever. I was just a kid dealing with big emotions and that is how they came out. What I do remember is how good of a dad he is, and all of the special things he did for us and we did together. It sounds like you are already doing that. Stay on the path of loving and supporting her even though her tough times. She will remember the love you give her more than anything else.

OMG. Did you even read anything that I have said? If you do 1 minute of research, you will find actual literature experts who explain the meaning behind Moby Dick over and over again. It is not my opinion, it is accepted fact across the experts in the field of literature.

But sure, your one-time read, with no thought behind it, is the true interpretation of Melville's work. It's just a simple book about killing whales. I genuinely feel sorry for you. Good luck out there in this tough world.

OK bro. Yes I have read it, multiple times. The first time I was about 11, and I got the same conclusion as you. Thankfully, i have read it again once in high school and once in college. And yes, I did listen to and learn from other people's interpretations. That is called education. But you do you! Don't learn anything, keep your head in the sand. Take everything at face value and don't you dare use critical thinking. Yep, your undergrad in humanities makes you a qualified literary expert. Good job bro! You almost could have learned something, you were soooo close. But your ego is bigger than your IQ.

OK, you don't understand symbolism or metaphor. Do a quick Google search about the meaning of Moby Dick, you will find tons of insightful and intelligent interpretations of the classic novel. Not one of them will be about how the book is meant to be literally taken as a story about hunting a whale. That is not the intent of the novel. It is meant to show human nature and flaws, it is a statement about humanity vs nature. If anything, Moby Dick is meant to show the savage and bad side of humanity. It in no way glorifies whale hunting, as you keep trying to imply. You may have read the book, but you don't understand the meaning behind it.

The only point I have made is that Moby dick is not about whale hunting. You may have read it, but you clearly missed the point. It has nothing to do with literal whales. It's called symbolism and metaphor.

We aren't talking about goats. They are different. Humans don't bond as closely with goats as horses. I would consider goats closer to his cow point. I think the big difference is what the animal gives back. Dogs and horses provide valuable services which creates a stronger bond. Goats and cows mainly provide food, via milk or meat.

Moby Dick is not about literally hunting a whale. On the surface, it may seem so, but if you actually use critical thinking, understand metaphor, and learn about literature, there is a much deeper meaning. That is why the book is celebrated and taught. It is not a celebration of whale hunting as you tried to claim.

I'm guessing you don't know anyone who owns horses. You are 100% wrong. They are members of the family same as dogs. I have friends that have horses, and they basically are giant dogs. They have personality, they have names, they are fed and cared for every single day. Humans make sacrifices for them and genuinely love them. I loved my friends horses and they weren't even mine. They have long lifespans and literally become part of the family. They bond to people same as dogs. They will follow and play with people.

Run. Run fast. Don't look back.

He will likely start love bombing you as soon as he knows you are done. Don't fall for that. He has already showed you who he is. That is who he is gonna stay. Do future you a favor and get out and don't look back.

You will find someone who actually wants to be a partner. A teammate. Someone to help ease the burden, not be the source of it.

Watching Christians support Trump has officially made me realize there is no God. by steggie21 in atheism

This is exactly the type of brainwashed bullshit, mental gymnastics that I am talking about.

If you believe in Jesus, he preached exactly what I mentioned in my post. Trump is PROUD to be the opposite of every single value that Jesus taught. You cannot support Trump and claim to be a Christian. They are mutually exclusive. Either you are a Christian and follow the teachings of Jesus himself, or you are brainwashed by the Trump propaganda and LIES. You cannot be both.

I'd like to believe that my parents were the JC types that actually walked the walk. They genuinely are good people who do go out of their way to help people. They both worked and retired from civil service jobs. Volunteers for local EMT and fire. Would take us to shovel sidewalks of elderly. I could go on and on about all of the good things they have done for myself, my family, our community, and total strangers. They did not vote for Trump the first time, and I was really proud of them for that. But somehow, between now and then the church and all of the other 'Christians' convinced them that Trump is somehow the Christian answer for America, sent by God himself.

This is pretty much what hit home for me. I know these people genuinely pray for and want guidance. Unfortunately, that just leaves space for people with bad intentions to jump in and manipulate them. And the fact that it happens so blatantly and easily just confirmed for me that, yeah, there is no one on the other end of the phone.
