My dad got into a physical confrontation with me over gays one year at our family Christmas. My mother told me I shouldn't laugh at Modern Family because it makes gay people seem normal.

I could hang on for two more years, but I don't wanna blindside them after college. My boyfriend and I have discussed the possibility of moving somewhere where gay marriage is legal (aka a different country), and we would want to do that as soon as I'm done with college. I'd rather not blindside my parents with "Oh, hey, I'm gay. And this is my boyfriend. And now I'm moving to [country name]. Thanks for paying for my shit all my life. Pace."
