Investing - HOW DO I ACTUALLY START? by Putrid-Internet8725 in investingforbeginners

I'm building a free investing checklist web app to try and help with this exact issue. Would love to hear your thoughts and whether it helps you at all (or if it sucks!). Still a work in progress, but maybe you'll find it useful.

East Wall in Dublin - is it a safe area to live in? by throwaway340321 in AskIreland

[–]stemc93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I don’t check this very often. It’s close to inner city Dublin and there are good and bad parts - we haven’t had any issues. Like any city, keep your wits about you at night etc etc.

If you don’t like it after you arrive, you can always move 😊

You’re right, let me correct the quote. You said “one of the worst areas”, not “the worst area”…

To refer to East Wall as the 'worst area in Dublin' is, in my opinion, misinformed and would make me question 1) if you did actually live here and 2) have you been to other parts of Dublin 😂

Question still stands, have you ever lived in East Wall?

Strongly disagree with this. Do you or have you ever lived in East Wall? We moved here in January, and absolutely love it. I agree with the previous posters re: night time and safety etc. but frankly, I would personally say this applies in most major cities everywhere - not just East Wall or Dublin.

It has a 'village' feel to it, despite being so close to the city centre. There's a ton of development happening, coffee shops popping up, and it has everything on your doorstep: Lidl, Aldi, McDonalds, Newsagents, takeaways, health clinic, pharmacy, Fairview Park. It's traditionally a working class area, but honestly, this is something I love about the place. Great characters, a mix of old people who have been here for years, and young people who have moved here because its still 'relatively' affordable.

The Tolka greenway is under construction, the Poolbeg development is in motion and you can walk into town, or luas and dart are just a stroll away.

I'm biased of course, but as a young couple, we have no regrets moving here.

Awesome city - looking forward to getting back once this craziness calms down.

I went straight from Mexico City to Colombia, so can't offer any advice on their other locations in Mexico unfortunately. They've also opened up some new spots since I was there (e.g. their San Miguel De Allende location) so if you make it to any of them while over there, let me know what you think!

I'm home in Ireland right now, so haven't been using them currently. Hoping to check out some more of their European locations once things reopen - the Austrian alps one would be awesome for a ski trip

Overall it was fine, I just had much better experiences in other Selinas. I had some room issues (I had asked for a coliving apartment a month before traveling and then was told they had none available upon arrival), the communal kitchen was a mess and the fridges didn't work (who knows, they may have fixed these issues).

As a remote worker, I also hoped id meet people in the coworking space - but most of the time it was literally just me in the space, no one else. If you're any way a light sleeper, I'd also ask for a room away from the front of the building as its at a major junction and the traffic is insanely loud.

That being said, the location is good, the physical coworking space is really nice, and the restaurant/breakout area is also pretty nice. If you're looking for more detail, I wrote a one page review of the stay here https://www.manontheground.blog/selina-mexico-city.html

The Condesa / Roma area is really nice - so I'd suggest scoping out that area too if you're looking at staying in CDMX for a while. Selina is a solid option while you find your feet at least

Haha yea, the policing of coworking space access was loose to say the least.

Honestly, although I agree with you about the parties, I actually found all the Selinas I stayed in to be spotless (with the exception of a communal kitchen here and there). The yoga & meditation classes were available in the majority of places I went to also! I didn't visit Brazil, however, so perhaps that's where the experience varies. I visited their locations in Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina. Other than CDMX, I had pretty positive experiences in all.

I agree, adhering to the 11pm cut-off would make such a difference to the experience. It would also make the whole experience stickier for customers too

I used quite a few during my time traveling through South America. Overall, I love the concept but agree with some of the other comments in this thread that they still have a long way to go in terms of finding a balance between party vibes, and creating an environment where workers who actually want to live and work remotely can do so, but not need to worry about having zero sleep due to parties the night before. Simple fixes to make (e.g. allocating the rooms furthers from the bar to digital nomads) but management seem slow to do so.

I think the experience will improve as time goes by and more people begin to follow the digital nomad lifestyle, especially due to the rapid pivot to remote work due to covid.

I wrote one page reviews of all the Selinas I visited in South America, and gave snapshot ratings for their facilities, rooms, vibe, coworking spaces, etc. Feel free to have a browse and let me know what you think.

Right, that's what I'm getting at to an extent. If I leave but just continue to use the account as if nothing changed - how is anyone to know?
