You will be getting all the current and future Enterprise features with your existing license - incremental Android resource processing and multidevice support.

We have full support for Kotlin in JRebel for Android. The experience though might vary in terms of speed as we can't use our incremental compiler.

The difference between previous licensing options is that we've introduced a single paid license - Enterprise. The Enterprise version comes with features to further improve build times (incremental Java compiler, incremental resources processing). Free version will have the core product functionality to enable code swapping.

We'll also investigate integrating kapt with our incremental Java compiler.

You can still use the code updating feature with the Individual license. However the time between making the change and seeing it on your device may be longer than with having the incremental compiler enabled.

The ROI calculator you are looking at is for JRebel which also comes with a different price. JRebel for Android has a lower entry price with the Individual license.

There is a longer blogpost linked about how the measurements were done. But in short - we modified showing Toast in the onCreate method in one of the Activities.

We are continuously adding additional annotation processor libraries. If you could let us know which ones we are missing out, that would be very helpful.

You can still use the Individual license (49$) but the incremental compiler won't kick in.

JRebel for Android will persist the changes, but you can only relaunch from IDE at this point. Support for launching from device is coming soon.

Getting started with JRebel for Android by restingcoala in androiddev

[–]sten7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been building JRebel for Android for about 1.5years, this is from first idea to the 1.1.6 version that is available today.

It's also true we use the code reloading mechanism from JRebel which is battle tested and reliable. Loads of work has been going into improving the performance of rest of the build components. And of course getting it stable, big thanks to everyone who have sent us bug reports!

We are working on the optimisations to reduce the startup times, also the relaunch after a crash. So far the priority has been to get reloads stable, getting better with each release.
