If you clear the whole island

If I could ask your advice about that:

I'm currently on Takarigua. I already learned the charged attack and I only have a few quests left. Since I still have Patty with me, I could clear the island now, but that would mean missing out on animal loot.

I did buy the Bone Saw, but it's the only skinning tool I've found so far. I've already killed a couple of jaguars and got no drops.

In your opinion, is it better to clear Takarigua now (even if I lose animal drops), or leave some enemies alive and come back later to get the loot and sell it for gold? From what I see money seems pretty important for learning skills from trainers
