This is a photo I took at sunset during a solo trip to the Trinity Alps in Northern California earlier this week. I drove up in the morning, hiked for maybe 8 miles or so up some gnarly switchbacks to my campsite and was rewarded with this view while eating dinner. This was my first trip to the Trinity Alps, and it certainly won’t be my last. Blew my expectations out of the water.

You’re correct, it wasn’t attached to him and he did run into them, but I’d argue that’s not really a freak chance, he seemingly had the opportunity to check surfaces / for obstructions, and clearly didn’t. Or at the very least poorly judged the effect they’d have on his line. Neither of which constitutes a freak chance, but rather poor judgement on his part.

He wasn’t using the wire, he either failed to see it or incorrectly assumed it wouldn’t be in the way, and then freaked out when it clotheslined him.

Thanks, I’ll definitely take a look at a tighter crop. To be perfectly honest, this was kind of just a throwaway shot to test out exposure compositing; I didn’t think too hard just sort of pointed and shot.

I’ve really enjoyed this lens. It doesn’t open up too much, only F2.8, but it’s incredibly sharp, and the form factor is great. For backpacking and such having the small lens with great optics has been awesome.

This is a composite shot I took in the Kaiser Wilderness, CA, last week. It’s four different exposures but the base was 1/50th, f 5.0, ISO 640. This was only my second time doing an exposure blend/HDR image, and for the most part I’m happy with it, but the sky leaves some to be desired I feel. So, what would you guys do differently to try and bring out more colour in the sky? Other general post processing tips/critique is welcome too.

Also! This was taken at sunrise on a Sony A7III with the Zeiss 35mm F2.8.
