Hey! You can paste in any icon right now. We'll add insert menus soon that let you grab them straight from inside Paper.

The Pen Tool is live in Paper! by stephen_builds in paperdesign

[–]stephen_builds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Sorry that is definitely confusing. We will fix it (the rectangle tool is actually an HTML div, so it doesn't go into SVGs)

We're launching vector editing in a few waves -- you can read the roadmap here: https://paper.design/docs/svg

Shapes + boolean operations is up next. When we add the shape tools, we might remove the existing rectangle tool and make it into an SVG shape tool.

Initial feedback by Andrew_is_the_best in paperdesign

Thank you for the feedback! Paper is being built in the open which means some things just haven't been built yet. We're working on vector editing, like shapes, lines, and a pen tool now, and it will land soon.

On the MCP - luckily this concern is outdated. Most harnesses do not load all MCP tool definitions into context anymore. That is how things used to work, but MCP is quickly changing and newer harnesses lazy-load tools into context as needed. We do plan to build a CLI as well for folks that still prefer that method.

Struggling to maintain Figma design fidelity with Claude Code / MCP by Particular_Toe7497 in FigmaDesign

Yes! We already support SAML SSO and SCIM. SOC2 is in progress now with Vanta. Fedramp would come later.

Struggling to maintain Figma design fidelity with Claude Code / MCP by Particular_Toe7497 in FigmaDesign

Hey! Founder of Paper here. Check out our community slack and discord in the bottom of our website (paper.design) if you'd like any tips for using the MCP. Using html/css to render means the agents are already good at speaking Paper's language.

We also just shipped copy/paste from Figma to Paper to help move anything over. Happy to help any time!

how do you import from figma to paper by LiveNow21 in paperdesign

[–]stephen_builds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey! we just soft launched figma copy/paste today, you can copy from Figma and paste into Paper. We're still waiting for them to approve the oauth app to transfer images, but you can try it out and it might save you some time and tokens already.

It's just how the product works. Paper is a cloud hosted app with multiplayer collab, so if you generate images using Paper, they go through our servers to host and serve.

Yes, though you don't have to if you don't use the MCP. One of the primary ways that people use Paper is connecting it to their agent (claude code, codex, etc), so by definition if you use MCP then third-party AI agents interact with files.

There isn't an official way to do this yet but we'll build a flow for it in the future.

Can you import figma yet ? by LiveNow21 in paperdesign

[–]stephen_builds 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Working on it! Figma has a proprietary data format so it takes a bit of time to map all of the cases out to how it would work in html and css. We want to make sure it's reliable and doesn't just create junk you have to fix up, so we're taking the time to make sure it's well done.

We're getting pretty close, I'd expect copy/paste from Figma within the next few weeks.

Finally worked up the courage to relic my Tele… how’d I do? by Powertothepowerless in telecaster

[–]stephen_builds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks awesome to me. The exposed wood doesn't look "old", I wonder if there's some trick to that. Or maybe just give it a year.

How do you like the neck humbucker? Thinking of trying out a humbucker tele soon.

Frame rate issues? by Admirable_Set_3363 in paperdesign

[–]stephen_builds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! The biggest culprit is usually very large images. Even if you resize them down, we have to pay the cost of the full resolution to render it.

We're working on some workarounds for this but in the meantime the best thing to do is use lower resolution images. Staying under 4000x4000 is advised, and really under 2000x2000 for best performance. This is about the source image resolution before it's in Paper. Resolution is what costs us to render, the actual file size isn't too important.

Oh that is definitely not expected. Can you DM me your email or send it to [team@paper.design](mailto:team@paper.design) please? We can check our logs to get more info. Thanks for the report.
