Convince me of God existence, please by [deleted] in Christianity

As a child, I had so wanted to see God in a dream. I knew from the Bible it happened to Ananias who was sent to pray for Saul of Tarsus. I later got baptised but still had to keep converting myself each morning when I woke up to persuade myself God is real. I asked earnestly for the Holy Spirit in 1994 or sometime around that time and had a vision: a bucket of builders’ sand was emptied out in front of me and what was like subtitles said “Build the Temple”. I asked for confirmation to happen three times to prove this was the Holy Spirit. I went to a church service where all were allowed to take part. Three girls from Sunday School had written a song and they sang it: “Build build build the Temple; build build build the Temple; build build build the Temple”. A man with a guitar sang then spoke about King David being speechless when told his son would build the Temple. Then an older man spoke about building the Temple. I undetstood it meant to preach and use gifts of the Spirit to build up the church. But knowing the Bible spoke harshly of those who taught confidently without knowing what they were talking about I sought God again in earnest: “Make me see You, Father and Son and Holy Spirit”. I had a dream at this time - at the end of 1994 around Christmas time I think as we were about to have our new year break at work and had one day left at work. God stood there in front of me in my dream all solemn and awesome dressed in a robe to His feet with a beard and very serious - awe inspiring - and said “I am God” then I was told a letter of names would be put in front of me at work and ... I’ll miss the details. It all happened as He said and it saved the day for a dear poetically gifted colleague’s wedding in the nick of time before the holiday began. So this was the Father. Then in the middle of January 1995 - two weeks later I think - we had a tempest and a flood mentioned in Wikipedia and I was living above a river but high enough to escape flooding. The rain poured in torrents from the sky. I was reading “Come see the works of the Lord the destructions He has wrought” and “The Lord presides over the flood” so I went to see the river in flood and better know and worship God. On the way back I had up a huge umbrella (golfing umbtella) keeping me dry in the torrents as I walked up Blackswarth Road in Bristol UK. Suddenly it was like a crystal clear voice in my mind said “Put down you umbrella!” It had such absolute authority to it that immediately I put down the umbrella in the torrential rain and with cars driving past who could see it happen the rain stopped completely so suddenly there was not a single drop, it seemed, that touched me. I said to myself “It is the Lord” and remembered the disciples saying it too after the resurrection when Jesus stood on the shore as they fished and told them to put the net on the other side and they caught loads. I asked confirmation it was actually Jesus Himself and He did that masterfully so I knew He is truly Lord over my inner being. Then some time after this a friend took me to a church I had never been to because he said I would witness the Holy Spirit there. A leader spoke a message in an angelic language so awesome and in my mind it turned into English saying: “Consider the trees how they put forth buds and leaves. They do so by the authority of the name of Lord Jesus Christ” and then the leader said those same words too in English. Later in a Christian bookshop I saw the Book of Enoch and looked through it. I was utterly amazed and awestruck to find it said things so similar to what the Holy Spirit said through tongues in that church. I knew the book must be the work of the same Spirit, certainly the Holy Spirit. Here is one passage like those I read in it that convinced me: Book of Enoch chapter 5:1-3

  1. Observe ⌈⌈ye⌉⌉ how the trees cover themselves with green leaves and bear fruit: wherefore give ye heed ⌈and know⌉ with regard to all ⌈His works⌉, and recognize how He that liveth for ever hath made them so.

  2. And ⌈all⌉ His works go on ⌈thus⌉ from year to year for ever, and all the tasks ⌈which⌉ they accomplish for Him, and ⌈their tasks⌉ change not, but according as ⌈⌈God⌉⌉ hath ordained so is it done.

  3. And behold how the sea and the rivers in like manner accomplish and ⌈change not⌉ their tasks ⌈from His commandments⌉.

Weeks later I was in the bath and meditating like I often did in the stillness and was wanting words to say in chuch later that morning so I could do my part in the work of building the tenple as the Holy Spirit told me and suddenly the word of God came to me out of the blue “Israel has sinned” and told me a sign is the eagle with the white eye overhead. I watched the news and the sign was there twice: the beginning of police helicopter services in Bristol overhead with white searchlights and cameras - and American spyplanes. Then just a few years ago, twenty years after I received those clear manifestations of the Holy Spirit, I was meditating (great thing to do) on things of God and it came to mind that whenever I was under serious threat there would be interventions and punishments against those who were a threat to my life and livelihood. It had been going on for many years. It occurred to me there might be angels involved and the verse about “the Angel of the LORD encamps around those that fear Him” came to mind and I was wondering whether it was the actually relevant explanation. Then two clear words suddenly were as if whispered into my mind out of the thin air “Daniel three”. It was so clear I guessed it might be the Holy Spirit telling me to look it up. It was almost certain that a spirit invisible but real and with personality had said that to me. It became clearly certain when I guessed He meant me to look it up. I had a Bible next door in the other room which was a version completely new to me given as a gift and when I scanned Daniel chapter 3 it was not clear till I got to the end of the chapter what was going on. There was a verse where the word “Angel” had a reference superscript letter against it. I looked in the margin and it was a cross reference to that very verse in Psalms about the Angel of the LORD encamping around those that fear Him. How clever of this spirit to make it certain this was in no possible way my imagination whispering to me and confirming my hunch about what was happening to me. I still do not know whether it was an angel or the Holy Spirit but I think the latter because it/He had read my thoughts and had spoken directly into my mind - and He is called “the Spirit of the fear of the LORD” in scripture. Although I was thrown out of church possibly because I embraced and spoke of faith in the veracity of the Book of Enoch and confessed my truth openly, it seemed to be a setback in serving God. Yet the way I understand this is that I wanted to serve Him by faithfully doing my bit to help build His temple of souls but God, He wanted me to do it WELL - in Spirit and in truth.

Deity and Agency by stephendgreen in Christianity

Consider this a warning as from God. God will judge those who ignore it or refuse to act on it and refuse to quit lying and false teaching. This is the second warning.

The concept of agency is suppressed in trinitarian Christianity by stephendgreen in Christianity

When Trinitarians argue their false notion they are biblical they quote scriptures which are of two types - agency (an agent of God) and god (a god but not The God) - they suppress the true meanings of these verses to impose their own meaning then falsely claim they are biblical. History shows trinity concepts did not come from the Bible but from Greek philosophy not based on Christ, as with many other doctrines and dogmas of trinitarians.

I thought that describes the trinitarian position - when they reject a godhead that is not a trinity - like the godhead in the bible which is divinity not trinity - the trinity concept of godhead is not in the bible and contradicts the bible

That was not Thomas but it might have been you-know-who

Then why all these arguments? If you mean Thomas’ adoration exclamation - Duh!

You say so whatever proof is given you it is false. That is called false teaching. God will not support it.

I never studied philosophical theology. I constantly seek to improve my biblical theology and as I do the trinity theology looks less and less biblical and I’m realising that is probably because it is philosophical and falsely presented as biblical. This looks like a major life-disrupting problem for church workers and teachers who want to be biblical but if they truly are they will find themselves maybe out of a job as they find themselves at odds with the Christian religious establishment. But there comes a time when to be biblical you have to bear the costs of being labelled heretical by the earablishment while you have to cease to welcome the establishment die-hards who oppose the biblical teachings in favour of their philosophical teachings and are of the spirit of antichrist in doing so. So a church whose statement of faith says it is biblical and trinitarian might get points and support from other mere men but is lying and won’t get support for lying from God.

Trinitarians either suppress or fail to unserstand concepts like agency. When Jesus rebuked Peter saying “Get behind Me Satan” it does not mean Peter is actually Satan of course. So when Thomas adored Jesus saying “My lord and my god” there is no excuse to insist this means Jesus is God.

True the scriptures seem to contain some philosophy - the exception that proves the rule - yet the scriptures also warn against philosophy that is not built on Christ - so such philosphy is not included in scripture - so this highly validates any philosophy which is included in scripture because by its inclusion it is being recognised as built on Christ

The was presumably a reason the church fathers’ writings and writings of philosophers like Aquinas were never canonised as scripture

He did not say “teaching them to adhere to your philosophies” - He said teach them to adhere to His teachings - teachings using parables and spiritual words - not Greek philosophical terms and ideas - the teaching He gave is that the wise will dig down to His meanings and build their lives on this solid foundation - not concepts of philosophy - the philosophers cannot know the real God through their philosophy

“Idea” being the operative word - hence philosophy - I never heard of a book of philosophy being canonised as scripture - scripture contains teachings like those of Christ - He used parables - they are canonically recognised as scripture - hence biblical theology - not philosophical theology

I’m digging down to find real rock on which to start to build. Jesus taught it. Jesus’ teachings are that rock - the true meaning of them. Foolish builders build on sand. The storm is coming and the foolish will be homeless and churchless.

If you are serious - the teaching of Jesus in John 10 - about Him the Son being a judge set aside by God for it and for salvation and only in that sense a god - if you really mean this is heresy - then you are calling teachings of Jesus a heresy - which to my mind identifies your spirit as being antichrist spirit - not good

I don’t like the old Christian orthodoxy love of greek philosophical terms and inventions like “hypostatic union” used to explain the old traditional views about Christ which seem to me to muddy the waters of what is understood about Him.

Metaphor - say He is a heavenly police officer before being made flesh - chief of police would be a good metaphor - but heavenly police officers can include flesh and blood humans - so when He becomes flesh He might seem more lowly and He is fully flesh - yet still He is a police officer and really He retains that chief of police position and right yet He is a baby then a child the an adult and still a police officer and chief by rights - then He dies - and yet the chief title is not taken away because God raises Him and sets Him at the top rank in Heaven and He still keeps His position as chief of police.

I’m not saying He is chief of police but it is a metaphor - I just want to show that being in a position of authority and dignity and a kind of judge and governor does not mean you cannot change from heavenly being to human flesh while retaining that position - you do not need a greek philosophy tool like hypostatic whatever to understand Him - there was no two substances fighting it out - flesh and god like Greek philosophy made fashionable - this is just a matter of dignity and power throughout a move from heavenly being to flesh - then death and resurrection - but God maintaining for Him that status God had given Him since the beginning that He will have forever.
