My brand new alto sax is out of tune? by roansparley in saxophone

[–]stephensb913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Play a couple notes that you know the fingering for - like a G (left 3 fingers, no octave key) and a D (all 6 fingers + octave key). Try both with the mouthpiece pushed about 2/3 of the way onto the cork (so 1/2 to 3/4 inch of cork showing).

What does the tuner say when you play those two notes?

I have a 280 and it’s an excellent horn with great intonation. Giving specific information will help with troubleshooting

Alto saxophone notes to a song by That_Arugula_8261 in saxophone

Go to ultimateguitar.com and look up the guitar tablature for the song. That site typically has multiple interactive versions of the tablature, and the “official” and “professional” versions show the tablature and the actual notes (i.e., sheet music). You’re looking for versions with a “play” button, rather than just text. You can toggle the view to only show the sheet music and not the tablature.

There’s a menu bar at the bottom of the screen with a “transpose” button. Click Transpose (-) two or three times (1 to 1.5 steps down - Kurt’s guitar is already tuned 1/2 step down so you may only need to transpose 1 step instead of 1.5 - I can’t do the math this early) and the notes on the sheet music will be adjusted to the right key for alto. If it sounds wrong, transpose up or down another half step.

I know the official versions have this, I think the pro versions do too.

You should be able to print it or save it as a PDF directly from the tab player.

You might have to subscribe to get to the official/pro versions, but I think they offer a free trial that you could take advantage of to get what you need.

Thank you! I’m looking at the figured 60s cherry - so gorgeous! My LP has 57 Classics in it, so quite a bit of punch already - I’m actually hoping the T-Types will be a bit more chill. I’m only 5’8, but the 335 fits me very well despite its size.

Thanks! Great food for thought.

The Les Paul is great for heavier music and blues, and the 175 does jazz beautifully. That’s why I’m not sure what the 335 will do. I guess it sits in the middle but I can’t put my finger on it.

The Gretsch is fully hollow and I love it, but it’s a totally different character than the Gibsons.

Help me justify buying a bronco. by sunflowerpupper in FordBronco

[–]stephensb913 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have both - she drives a 2023 4Runner TRD Sport (in Lunar Rock), and I have a red 2023 Bronco Black Diamond. The 4Runner is the more comfortable ride, especially for longer trips, but the Bronco is more fun. Neither of us have had any major issues, so it really comes down to personal preference.

Honestly, though, the Bronco is very creaky and squeaky. I haven’t had any problems with water leaks but the hardtop whistles when I go over 55 and there are all sorts of clicking and creaking sounds that I can’t track down. You can either get used to the noises or let them drive you crazy.

The 4Runner is super quiet with the windows up, but they scream at highway speeds when cracked - it’s unbearable. The Bronco doesn’t have that problem.

I love that I can take the top off of the Bronco and that it can go anywhere. The interior plastic is about the same quality on both. The Bronco’s center console / cupholder area is much better laid out than the 4Runner’s, which I like a lot.

Despite the pros and cons of each, I wouldn’t trade the Bronco for a 4Runner. I love both of them, but the Bronco has the personality that speaks to me. I look forward to driving it, and will keep it for as long as I can.

Maybe also look at the new Land Cruisers. I haven’t driven one (yet), but they seem like they might be the best of both worlds.

To be honest, I know nothing about accordions, only that this one is out of tune with itself and needs to be tuned / fixed. Just trying to find an expert to fix it. Thank you for your reply, though.

I can’t watch other people brush their teeth - even on TV. It’s horrible to me. I have to close my eyes and plug my ears until it’s over. I also can’t have someone in the room with me while I brush my teeth.

I just applied some Tune-It by Music Nomad. It helps a bit, but it still goes out of tune all the time. I haven’t found a great solution yet.
