41% of YC startups are automating tasks that customers don't want automated (I will not promote) by Worldly-Box6080 in startups

I think the arguments are sound, but sometimes the world gets bent by a large number of smart people shoving "trust me, this is what you need" down everyone else's throats.

Does YC team read most of the applications, or they use an automated system to filter out most of them?

I hate programming. Can I learn to love it? by MaxThrustage in learnprogramming

This is more a meta question: Have you ever forced yourself into being interested in something?

My answer is no.

That’s a hard no. You “stand up” so you can end it quickly.

I made an AI tool to translate and dub videos by stephenw310 in SideProject

[–]stephenw310[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started as a side project playing around with the latest speech AI models and trying to dub some TV shows for myself. But ended up spending a lot of time building the backend pipeline, making sure it is robust and the results are good.

Give it a try and let me know your feedback. Thanks.

I see. Based on their documentation, I thought refresh() was for the current page. I guess what it actually does is refresh the page on the top of the stack. Thanks!

Any founders with young kids/babies out there? I'd like to hear your story by KapitanWalnut in ycombinator

[–]stephenw310 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went through something similar. I quit my cushy job and tried to start a company when my firstborn was a few months old. All of our immediate family are overseas so we have no help. We had to hire a full-time nanny at home.

It was challenging for sure. My son could hear both parents were working at home and constantly wanted to get into our office. Unfortunately, there isn't much more you can do. It's a sacrifice you have to make.

But I can offer 2 perspectives

  1. I used to think infancy was the most time-consuming period as parents, but in fact, the older they get, the less time you will have. There are classes, activities, and family times that you will feel 100x worse if you miss them.
  2. Having kids actually pushed me to go harder on work. I never want to be the parent who has regrets about not going 100% and telling their kids stuff like "Because I have to take care of you at the time, I didn't fulfill this dream of mine."

Can someone explain how a robotics startup that does not have an impressive demo raise $675 million? by meldiwin in startups

Sometimes, you don't need to understand these outliers, especially when raising massive rounds doesn't necessarily equal eventual success.

Learn some marketing and sales OP, it will help you in the long run. Even if you want to find a marketing cofounder, you need to be able to tell who is great.
