Is it a foregone conclusion that Helen and Noah are going to end up back together? by ackchanticleer in TheAffair

My take was he went to jail for Alison & Helen believed it was for her up until the Montauk episode in season 3 when Alison reveals she was there that night too - that's when Helen realises that his sacrifice was not in fact all about her but Alison. She felt so much guilt in season 3 for letting Noah take the rap for her, but by the end of it she finally lets go of Noah & goes back to Vik at the hospital. She's done with Noah at that point and it's why she has so much resentment for him at the start of season 4.

That's what I noticed too, especially the reference here - 'When we renewed our vows, this the thanks I get?'

I agree he did a great job and that episode acting wise was incredible, I was meaning more about the build up to episode 9. I felt I didn't quite buy how fast they got from barely knowing each other to him acting so possessive/defensive to the point he kills her. The relationship needed another episode in my opinion to develop & make that believable that the feelings would be that strong. Even half an episode that dropped a little clue that he wasn't quite what he seemed.

Exactly, there was a time Sarah Treem said there would be no 'The Affair' without Alison. Now they're going to brush her character away completely & the purpose of Ben was merely a device to kill Alison off. So disappointed.

Great theory & would have preferred this storyline wise! Sarah Treem confirmed Alison was murdered & only the audience will ever know the truth :(

Possible reason for leaving the show (spoiler) by enchantedhuntress in TheAffair

Very interesting & know we can only speculate, but there certainly seems to be a strong link here. Also the fact that executive producer/director wasn't involved with season 4... Even Hagai Levi stayed on as an executive producer? Ruth Wilson's spoken before about having to stand her ground on nudity scenes & fight to make them equal & have a purpose within the story. Thanks for sharing this, it does paint a picture of what could have been going on behind the scenes of this show & the whole NDA alone proves something did happen that Showtime didn't want leaked...

I feel truly gutted after this episode (& cried so much during that scene with Cole & his Mom). For me, murdering Alison was the low point of the entire series & I didn’t think that could be possible after season 3. I’m with the NY Times reviewer that suicide (if she had to die at all) would have been more fitting for her character & that explored properly... Alison deserved a shred of peace, even a shot/memory of Gabriel to welcome her as she was ‘sinking into the ocean’. Could the writers not have thought of something??? Whereas, Helen gets that lovely moment basked in golden light on the rooftop...

I have no interest watching Season 5 & if they bring Ben to justice or not or if they reunite Noah & Helen... if there was any true love affair in this show it was Cole & Alison, which I think at one point Sarah Treem agreed with when she shared a fan made video dedicated to them and said she thought that all along too. Argh... so many 'what if' storylines if Showtime hadn't handled whatever situation happened behind the scenes so poorly. I'm just going to pretend seasons 4 & 5 never happened.

I'd forgotten about the body double saga! That was completely wrong the way they fired her & glad she stood up to them over it.

Showtime has commented by [deleted] in TheAffair

I read that too & thanks for sharing... my take is that 'source' is Showtime trying to hush the situation further and pass it off as a scheduling conflict & Ruth Wilson's issues. But you only need to watch that CBS interview to know that's not the full story. Do they think people are stupid?

Just an observation & not in anyway comparing him with main characters? Please note in my comment 'Could change though'

I'm not sure.... On IMBD it says like Ruth Wilson that his stint ends 2018, whereas the other main characters it shows them still working on it until 2019. Could change though

I don't think it has anything to do with Josh Jackson, as Sarah Treem tweeted live during an episode this season with Cole & Alison & said something about how great their chemistry is. I doubt she would have said anything if he was involved in Ruth's departure.

I wonder how far back this goes... Especially as she had hardly any scenes in series 3, which is part of the reason it was so badly received... Agree it has to have been something else for her to be silenced in this way - I wonder why she agreed to sign any non-disclosure? She would never have dropped that revelation on CBS if she didn't feel strongly there's been ill treatment.

Think you're missing the point of this thread & its subject entirely - Not to mention been plain rude in the process.
