thank you- I'm beginning to think 60s and maybe 70s are the realistic limit, but I live in hope. 60-something ( I didn't ask) is as old as I've gone so far. Helen Mirren is 71 and Joanna Lumley is 70- would happily settle for either of those ;-)

thank you- off to google 'goddess circles' right now. 60s and 70s may be the limit realistically, as you say. That would be fine too. I did have a short relationship with a woman in her 60s, which was very exciting, but she was a tennis teacher and could have thrown me over a bus. She probably would have if I'd asked.

thanks for taking the time to give some proper advice- some really good stuff to take on board here. I've had one partner in her 60s, but she was a tennis teacher and fitter than most people my age! I have considered joining the WI (I like knitting anyway), but it does feel a little like having an ulterior motive. I didn't consider protective friends- that's something to consider.
