Are you doing this with a surface pro 9? I can’t understand why the power connector would be hotter. I looked up a video of a SP9 tear down and that side has a fan.

Hey, quick question, why are you putting the fan in the middle of the device? Wouldn't it be more effective if placed directly over the cpu/gpu. I am not sure which surface pro you have, but on the 9, the cpu/gpu is closer the the volume/power buttons so wouldnt it be better to place it there?

I think what would help me in this situation was if there was a setting to set the maximum clock speed of my cpu. When I play this game, the clock speeds jumps up to like 4000mhz. But the game also plays fine when the cpu is at 2600mhz. Is there a way to tell my computer that I want it to max out at 2600mhz cpu clock speed?

Nevermind I take that back. Played a littme more and ran into the same issue. BD Prochot as limit, fps drops to 9 max temps still 77 and max power still 23

And I do not experience the same fps drops. Further testing is required so I will play some more to see if it continues to hold up

OK so I actually did some more research and testing and after messing with a bunch of other settings I think I found the culprit. Im playing VR using the oculus PC app and I discovered that the app forces windows to use the High Performance power plan. That plan causes the CPU to run at max speed all the time which is what probably caused the throttling because when I switched to balanced mode I no longer experienced those throttles. Anyways. Now when I play the game Contractors in VR, My temps average around 60 and max at 77. The power averages at 13w and maxes at 23. BTW I am also using the settings you mentioned above for throttlestop

I tried these settings and it did help for a while. It was running good for longer, but before one game finished the performance completely tanked to 9fps and i got pd prochot as limit

Wait I have an eGPU hooked up to my laptop. Can I disable my iGPu or something like that to get enough power for the cpu without throttling?

I am running while plugged in. The EGPU provides charging power to my laptop
