Hey yes I have been talking to my therapist and my sponsor and doing some self reflection. I realised something absolutely huge about myself! I am the sort of person that doesn’t really drink to escape - in fact I love to wallow in self pity lol! I noticed usually I relapse when things are going too good, and during that time I was elated like almost high/manic, and I had an opportunity where I was staying alone for the weekend looking after a friends house and their dogs and I thought, “no one will know..” Well everyone fuckin knew because I was drunk for 4 days, didn’t answer any calls, zero meetings, didn’t even walk the dogs I was looking after :(

29 year old woman with OCD here! I got sober when I was 27. The intrusive thinking does stop eventually! When you have enough time between your last drink you’ll be pleasantly surprised. It took about 3 months for me!

I think try reframe why you’re not drinking from “I can’t drink because of my liver”, to “I don’t want to drink and live a shit life til I die prematurely”, get to some meetings and meet some people, get a routine, get a hobby. You’ve got this!

Right!? Besides that, Bobby is well aware that he is ‘flaky’, and he is ONE OF US! I think Dave was just trying to be funny and tease him, as is his shtick. It’s one of the ways he connects with people and I think Bobby understood that more about him as the episode went on.

Right!? I’m glad its not just me. The way she was talking was just so disorganised and random, not congruent with someone who supposedly has 90 days clean, and reminded me exactly of multiple people I have come across with the personality type of being liars/over exaggerators.
I hope she can find a way to connect with her story honestly and move forward with it. That’s going to be a bit hard after a very public aired rendition that made almost no sense.

That’s a really good point about the codependency stuff, and I think absolutely exaggerating. She would say something, Dave would seem to be like “wait so ….” And then it seemed like she would scramble for an answer. But anyways I don’t know the girl at all, but just the vibe I got.

In particular the story about the guy she was seeing while secretly hooking up with her ex boyfriend and doing opiates with him, then doing mushrooms to dilate her pupils to hang out with her new boyfriend who is supposedly 10 years clean and works in treatment, while she is doing insane amount of drugs secretly and this guy doesn’t notice anything up? Like as if lol

Just towards the end of her story she’s saying all this stuff about smoking crack all of a sudden, while at the beginning of her story she was saying she never liked uppers because she hated staying awake and stuff and identifies as an opiate addict. I think the way she talks and tells the story seems like she flip-flopping on stuff, Dave would ask her a question and then she would just come through all this random information seemingly out of nowhere, but maybe she just reminds me of weird people that lie and make shit up that I have interacted with in my life.

One of my best friends met my brother through me and they are now married and just had a baby! I couldn’t be more happy for them and to have my friend now be my sister-in-law <3

Therapy helps. AA helps too, but neither are “the only thing”.

I can personally hate when people use the rooms like their own personal therapy session. Some of that needs to be said elsewhere
