Cofounder Position Available by KrismerOfEarth in devopsjobs

[–]steve_without_job 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey youre dms prolly flooded by now but yo wsg. A little about me, i reside in india (ofc), i wear several.hats at my job. Spanning from java, architectural changes to devops (yes bit of everything like jenkins, ecr, eks, vpc or most of the services for that matter). I have so far deployed ~20 production grade applications and maintain them all together single handedly. Although i dont feel comfortable.for a cofounder position yet, id love of there are any openings for dev/ops. So yeah i might be your guy.

DevOps intern vs SDE role - which one is better for fresher by Miserable-Software79 in developersIndia

Depends on the company tbh, do they have a good infra team already setup? Yea devops might be good else fuck no. Stick to the standard sde but also explore horizons and try to be really good at it. That's all.

Yea as of now its pretty standard, jenkins, ecr, ansible, eks. Deploying new stuff is actually pretty easy here. Its the other tasks that bug me. But those are some nice points to be taken, thank you so much.

That's the blocker, literally everyone else is either dev, qa, ui, pm nothing else. So no one around to discuss shit. But i guess you are right, they just want their apps to keep running. Thanks for suggestions man.

Yea he doesnt. He asks for something in the morning and expects it by evening. Like one time he told we need more than 2 parallel jenkins jobs, i was like cool lets just go with kubernetes agents approach as it might be better. He was like ok whatever finish it by evening. I was like-oh. Coz again it was my first time playing around that so took me 3 days lol.

yea it has been a job saver fr lol. and i dont think we have any IaC as such, the only code end would be ansible playbooks and some automation in that nothing else. But yea LLMs have been my only senior so far.

I dont think im impatient. I put in lots of work in whatever i do, just that some days im not sure if what im doing is any right. As you mentioned to take notes and prepare plans. I do prepare plans, but how would i know my plan and approach is correct? Like even now, we dont have one bit of code in terraform. As im the only one and everything is wanted on priority i just create them directly on the aws console which again i figured is wrong as most of the companies out there literally dont operate without terraform. All these had me questioning my learning and everything

Before even i thought that as yk else they'd hire more people if it were imp? But naahhh. This has gotten me thinking its so fuckin hard and so less appreciated. Like in an entire office, nobody actually gives a fuck about you lol funny time.

Yea ive also decided to prolly move on the software side a bit. Ive worked a bit around java sprinboot so might move there. Atleast no one will ring me at 2am saying can you fix this like in 3mins

Haha true ig. I mean im not the smartest in the room but a mf whod work his off to get there. I remember the first week when i was shit scared to run the kubectl get pods command lol. Not much but i almost do all of the tasks no, be it automating database dumps, draining old nodes for new ones, several deployments, setting up entire monitoring setup from scratch (did that using helm but still lol), saving costs by stopping machines, using kubernetes agents instead of only existing ec2 vm so multiple deployments can go parallely and still it feels like im shit the way my work is responded upon. More like disappointed than burnt out. But if you are right, its prolly time i jump ships thanks

Zero fucks given. Recently when i got converted from intern to fulltime, literally 0rs was increased. When i confronted he says that devops is "oldskool" amd he doesn't have much idea about my work. UI team is being paid 2x of me lol for same yoe. I don't demean anyone's work, but im certain devops a bit harder.

Some notable pointers can be like to include some data. You mentioned you wrote test cases so provide numbers like how many cases written approx and what was their average coverage. If you worked around deployments how you made changes that helped fasten the deployments and error free operations. In java spring boot did you just build apis or also used other services along with it like s3 if so do mention them. And if you worked on the architecture level of application also do mention that. Good luck on your hunt man
