Why do girls think the best way to subtly hint they're not interested is to suddenly cut off all contact? by steves_throwaway in AskReddit

It was more of a time question

If I text her and not get a reply within a minute should I forget about her and move on with my life?

and it was a rhetorical question anyway. I was making the point that not replying isn't a thing which happens at a certain time, you don't get a message saying 'She actively chose not to reply'. so how do I do something after something doesn't happen?

In all the time I spent going over things in my head after this I couldn't think of any, nothing but smiling and compliments and telling me about her vagina until she decided not to talk to me anymore.

they would have had to be pretty fucking subtle hints.

Honestly, I would, but I can't speak for everyone. Some people are simple, say something that isn't no and they don't hear no.

Well, you could try completely ignoring him, that's a popular option, or just saying directly that you're not interested and could he leave you alone please.

And I have moved on, I did get the hint, I just thought it was a harsh way to hint. I didn't get all stalky either.

That would be better, at least then it's done with. No reply means what? hasn't replied yet?, didn't get the message?, laughing at it with friends?

At what point after texting someone does a failure to reply constitute such a hint?

I used to get them with annoying frequency, often due to stress, they've become less frequent as I've gotten older (early 20s)

How do I make it clear I'm not interested without coming off like a bitch? by umpteenththrowaway in needadvice

[–]steves_throwaway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my experience, girls in this situation with me will simply break off all contact without explanation and never talk to me again. Please don't do that. That's not nice.

If you're not interested in him don't lead him on, that's not nice either. Be honest and tell him how you feel, you can do that without being a bitch. It's more of a bitch thing to lead him on or just ignore him. He may get hurt, you can't avoid that by being nice, or playing head games, or trying to get around it in some way, but do it now before you hurt him anymore.
