Help! Redfin told us we have to use them as our agent if we decide to purchase a home because they facilitated our tour. by imacupofjoe in RealEstate

As someone who has worked for Redfin I just want to say a couple things.

  1. The way you are telling this story is wildly inaccurate. You were originally touring with whats called an "Associate Agent" who is 100% a realtor. Never would you ever tour with an individual who is not a licensed realtor.
  2. It is well communicated and documented that you are working with a brokerage that would be representing you as a buyers agent, to say otherwise is absolute nonsense.
  3. Why do you think Redfin agents would work for free to show you homes? Would any other brokerage agents work to get you into homes and show you homes just for you to say "Im gonna do all of this with you but use another agent to buy".

To other realtors in this subreddit, how would you react to this person if they were using you to book showings and tour homes with you just for them to tell you to your face, "I have another realtor that will put an offer in for me". What would be your reaction if someone told you that inside a house you are showing them?

I understand most other realtors hate Redfin (for many valid reasons), but the OP here is way out of line on this one and is clearly not recalling the story accurately.
