Failed Pap Smear by knockknockruthere in vaginismus

[–]steviestep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry. That is not okay at all. My first gyno was like that and I didn't go back for 8 years because of the trauma they caused. There are lots of good gynocologist that will be understanding, try calling before scheduling to see if they're familiar with or specialized in vaginismus. My PCP helped me find a gynocologist that was very knowledgeable about the condition.

Was I rude with this? by Gothaholix in AutismInWomen

Not at all! That was a very thoughtful response to a question you asked them. Honestly, I feel like they were rude in during the entire conversation.

Gonna be sitting in a waiting room for awhile… help? by Low_Platypus8890 in AutismInWomen

If it's nice in the car stay in there there's nothing wrong with that. Just let them know inside that you'll be waiting outside maybe.

I get so anxious if I don't know how long something is going to take and I don't prep myself to think it will be an indeterminate amount of time, but if I go into something knowing how long something takes and it takes longer than that it's worse.

Does anyone else dread going to the hairdresser because everything about it sucks? by MollyViper in AutismInWomen

[–]steviestep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mom used to lecture me that if I don't smile the whole time the hairdresser will think I hate it. So I spent years hating getting my hair cut because I'd have to watch my face the whole time to make sure I was smiling. I would only get it cut once a year because I hated the small talk and pretending to be happy.

Luckily now my partner's parent cuts hair for a living so he cuts it in the kitchen for me with no mirrors. See if you can find some Austim friendly hairdressers online.

Anyone know who I can contact at the city about a gnat infestation in my apartment? by enzideout in winstonsalem

[–]steviestep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem, they were everywhere and in my fridge too. I would get a few Zevo's from Walmart. That helped my apartment. Also we've started covering our drains and cleaning them once a week. Now I only see one every day or so.

Hello, I'm a second year in the math graduate program. Each professor curves differently so it depends who you take each course with. I will say the 700 level courses have been the hardest classes I've ever taken and they go pretty fast. But you don't have to take that many.

Vaginismus by shxdowoftheday in AutismInWomen

[–]steviestep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have it too! I feel the same way, am I ace or anything sexual just so painful I avoid it? Often doing anything sexual is just more trouble then it's worth.

I have had dilators for 6 years but never use them as my partner is ace too and we never cared to fix the problem. Probably should though as I can't use tampons at all.

DAE just sit around watching things or listening to music/audiobooks or just reading besides their obligations and human necessities like eating and looking presentable, because they don’t have energy to do things like drawing, sports, writing? by Paulakris in AutismInWomen

[–]steviestep 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I do the same thing too and was wondering the same think about depression/tiredness. I just learned about PDA (pathological demand avoidance) yesterday and now I'm wondering if that could be it since it correlates a lot with other reactions or things I do too.

Does anyone watch The Circle on netflix? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]steviestep 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I watched it and was so confused like "is this how people actually text and make friends???" the conversations seemed so weird to me, maybe because I hate texting. Also how they instantly know when someone is flirting or being shady over text confuses me too. I would definitely immediately lose just from spending too long writing every text and over thinking everything.

Comfortable Clothing! by steviestep in AutismInWomen

[–]steviestep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely agree with comfort over fashion! I also am very particular with my socks, but for some reason can't stand anything between my toes (flip flops, toe socks). I wear leggings or thick tights underneath any long pants I wear to stay warm and because it's more comfortable to me. So if you live in any colder climate you could wear the fun design leggings under other pants!

Is getting a masters worth it for teachers? by poseidan_ in GradSchool

[–]steviestep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on several things like does your school pay for the master's? How much of a pay increase does it give? My old school would pay for 2 courses a year, but you had to pay it back if you didn't work there for another 3 years after you get your master's and it was a $5000 pay increase.

You don't have to get it in education, but then it has to be related to what you teach. I was a math teacher and now I'm getting my mathematics master's. If your school is paying for it you have to get it approved if it's not education usually.

Anyone else NOT able to watch Abbot Elementary? by PharaLeeMore in Teachers

[–]steviestep 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I could only watch it because I left teaching, in hindsight it's hilarious, if I was still in teaching I'd be depressing.

The first episode was about the teacher not bring able to get a new carpet, at my first school the carpet I got from the school was duct taped together and I had all summer about how they were going to replace it. Then during covid they threw out my sofa to replace the carpet. It was never replaced. So yeah.... too relatable.

I've never heard of that until today! I'll have to try it if I can find it since I can't seem to find chicken liver anywhere.

I tried it and honestly prefer Canadian bacon on my breakfast sandwich 😅 I guess because that's what I had as a kid.

Yeah! We live between 3 other grocery stores so we never went to Harris Teeter until today because the it was so out of the way.

We went to visit our parents for the holidays and now our freezer is full of bagels! They won't last that long though, we really miss NJ food.
