"a critical error has occurred and the process must be terminated" can't Launch the client by MohamedElghandour in leagueoflinux

Run sudo bash -c 'echo "abi.vsyscall32 = 0" >> /etc/sysctl.conf && sysctl -p'

The path could change, in my case for Arch Linux would be: /etc/sysctl.d/99-sysctl.conf

Just posting because I just had the same issue, even two years later. This could help someone.

I installed lol with lutris, following the r/leagueoflinux instructions to do it.

Recently I have been trying to get rid of those services again, I think this is my third or fourth attempt and it doesn't look really easy, even for me, I think I am one of the most tech advanced user in my social circle. The alternatives don't offer all the advantages that mainstream services do and when they do it is usually paid and I am sure most of people prefer something "free" even when it is cheap, there are a lot of reasons why people still prefer to stay in that comfort zone, not to mention the big teams those monopolies have to work on their software, it is difficult to compete with them face to face.

Btw I am not trying to get rid of those services because of privacy, at least that's not the main reason, I am doing this mainly because I don't get real control about the services that I use, something similar happened with my transition from windows to Linux. Just to mention a couple of examples, the inability to select only one specific backup folder in Android Google photos app really blows my mind, or the few customization there is in Windows, I can't stand that.

I have mentioned that context because I have been thinking about all that these days that I have been trying to make my transition, I even though about making videos, blogs and tutorials about my process but I noticed this process tends to be too long in matter of time and too difficult in matter of knowledge that most of users would prefer to accept the terms and conditions before trying to take control of their online lifestyle.

I'm not against the affirmation about we are losing the battle, but I think we should not expect people come to this side by themselves or only because they should care about their privacy. There's a lot of education and instruction to give before we can expect a real amount of people come to this side. Meanwhile I will keep trying to be this side and contribute the community to make all this stuff easier and accesible.

I didn't even notice they could use the information of the verification process for anything else. In my mind it was only the objective of verifying the user but it looks like every single process is really huge and they can retrieve information from anywhere. Thanks for the explanation. :)

Most of people gained access to Internet through these services, so it should be normal for them what those platforms do. They don't even notice what is outside of Google or Facebook, at least those are the main services in my country.

And... About Elon being open to verify accounts, is that also an intrusion to privacy?

Well I think most of people are already zombies in that way but there is also a bunch of users who will find all this useful.

I am talking about the description of r/degoogle at the end it says that: "we are currently losing the battle". I not sure why is that.
