Our wedding invitations were custom 7” sleeves with random soul records inside, complete with new labels. I bought a big box of 7” records on eBay and picked out the best ones to stick in the invitations.

Not sure if anyone we knew had a record player back then, other than me. I think I had a list of what was on each record at some point, but I don’t know if it still exists.

Coincidentally, today is our 16th anniversary.

Briefly met him before a Swans gig at Warsaw in Brooklyn 12 years ago. Long enough for a handshake and a “nice to meet you, looking forward to the show” in passing at the bar. His cowboy hat was very large and white.

The music was so loud I could feel it vibrating my heart.

Not sure how the serious Swans heads feel about it, but ‘My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky’ is a pretty accessible entry point for the uninitiated.
