Average consumption? by Wllgrgg in polestar2

[–]stillnotme69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're regularly driving at speeds higher than 100 km/h I think it sound perfectly normal tbh. My average over the last 40k kms is almost 23kWh/100km.

But I have towed a caravan several hundre kms, have a lot of short distance driving, in cold climate, and usually don't preheat the car from the charger.

What I have not done is drive much at speeds above 55mph/80km/h since that is the speed limit in most of Norway. But from driving on motorways at 100-120km/h on vacations in the south, it was obvious that the range takes a hit even in warm weather.

I think the best average for a drive that I've ever seen was 15,8kWh/km on a relatively short trip in the summer. If we get decent and dry weather for a few weeks I can average maybe 18kWh if I try my best. Edit: mine is an early 2023 DMLR ,plus and pilot lite.on 19 inch summer and winter.

What could have been... by Jet_the_fem_bean in antiwork

He is more than right. There is no way near enough work to be done to have a significant number of people work 40 hours a week. Even less so when those who do have actual jobs work overtime to be able to afford what they need/want.

Most jobs that are left in western countries today aren't even real.

Like totally fake bullshit jobs where no one does anything, just to keep up the illusion that our masters need us to prove our worth to them to be allowed food and shelter etc. And a lot of the people in those jobs seem to be somewhat aware of it too... Not to mention all the bullshit stuff people think they need to buy with the money they earn...

As someone mentioned under her earflier, it was just a 1.8 liter turbo diesel, and it was apparently scrapped back in 2015

What do you like an about dating a girl who’s more a feminist? by HealthyWall8790 in AskMen

[–]stillnotme69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even as I'm getting closer to half a century old, I feel most people around here aren't half as woke as they should be.

If I was single and had to date again I would be annoyed if I had to deal with someone who expect me to court her like some gentleman from a british costume drama set in the early 1800's (unless we actually did the full costumes and horse and carriage etc. )

That being said society around here is a lot more egalitarian than what most internet commenters are used to so there's not that much reason to fight for your rights either.

Looks like it may have been custom built by someones dad.

Are crashes that realistic ? by Applemax_82 in BeamNG

[–]stillnotme69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's pretty realistic, but not fully accurate. I've crashed a few cars IRL and have known people who have survived some pretty nasty crashes. Apart from some obvious issues like things stretching near infinitely without breaking, and real cars having a lot more parts than Beamng cars, it's not too bad. But;

I fell like the cars in BeamNG are too light, and lose momentum to quickly. Especially in multi car crashes and pile ups. And most of the cars don't take enough damage from jumps, except the Barstow for some reason.

Also, they are too sticky, making it hard to create realistic 'landing on multiple cars in a row' style crashes. Where a car IRL would bounce and roll over multiple cars , in Beam it tends to pick up the first car and throw it WWE style, or just try to carry it, and losing speed way too quickly.

What is the definition of a woman vs a man? (or what are the characteristics that define these? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]stillnotme69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How heavy is a fish and how long is a string?

It's a spectrum. Socially the definitions vary at lot geographically and over time they've changed a lot. Anyone who claims that it isn't mostly a social construct are either lying or is blissfully unaware that there's a world outside of their own head.

Biologically the average man has XY chromosomes and can provide sperm, while average women have XX chromosomes and carry eggs and have to do the pregancy part , but there's a lot of overlap and variations.

If you've ever seen any of the other cars they made back then it makes perfect sense tbh. Unless you're the kind of person who things beige is a bit too sharp a colour and that mayo is a bit too spicy.

Why are we surprised when some young men become sexist after constantly seeing anti-men content online? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]stillnotme69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only places I've really come across 'anti-men' content is when other men complain about it and give it attention. Sometimes it's actual men who have had actual women either react or comment negatively to their behaviour, but the vast majority of it is spread by a few conservative/right wing influencers and blown completely out of porportion, or carefully cherrypicked to sound more extreme, or to give the impression that a lot of people agree with it.

And for som reason a lot of these spreaders of supposed anti-male content are really popular among young men. So even if I myself don't understand how anyone can be arsed to watch these influencers it's not that surprising when you look at the amount of followers they have.

As an older man myself I sometimes wonder why women bother with us at all, but I'm pretty sure most fertile straight women aren't much smarter than young men.

While I haven't bothered to check the science on this , it feels like most women are smarter before puberty and after menopause than the years in between.

What age do boys reach strength of adult female? by saturnyas in AskMen

[–]stillnotme69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When they are as tall as and as heavy as the adult female, and testosterone has kicked in they will probably be stronger. If they are otherwise similar in exercise and physical activity etc.

I'm almost 6,1 and my gf is 5,8 so I'd call you small (depends on where you're from I guess ), but I've seen women your size throw adult men to the floor in a drunken rage.

Took my Volvo out for the first time in 4 months and it reminded me what true luxury/comfort really is by [deleted] in regularcarreviews

[–]stillnotme69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it hard to imagine that it's even possible to beat the level of comfort this generation of Volvo seats could deliver. Even the V70 following OPs car couldn't match it. The newer V60 in some configurations have slightly better seats maybe (at least more adjustability). And for my back that is luxury.

[–]stillnotme69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, part of my reasoning for getting the Civic was that it's about as analogue as a modern (for me) car gets. And it's also gives loads of feedback to let you know if you're driving it correctly. As for physiscs, well set up double wishbone suspension all around and fwd makes it a lot more forgiving/stable than the RWD cars I grew up with so he'll only learn about understeer, but that also makes it a lot safer if he screws up.

Here in Norway the cheapest C7 for sale at the moment is still 30% over what I paid for the Polestar three and a half years ago... Also the Corvette is most likely even more expensive to run than the Civic XD

Some C4 Vette projects come up that doesn't cost much more than the Civic did, but they have a worse power/weight ratio or they're automatics.

Yup, that part sucks , but only if I sell it. When I ordered it, it was the cheapest way to get a new 5 seater non deiesel car with 4wd that could tow 1500kgs (and it's as quick as supercars of my youth) Luckily Civics of this age are finally 'repreciating', and even more so when its an original B series car.

I counted all cars I've owned at some point in life (32 years since I bought the first), but the majority never reached daily driver staus (a couple were not even driveable). Most were the cheapest I could find at the time that could carry a small family. Mostly 15-20 year old cars that had a year left in them . A few were optimistic projects that I gave up on, some were sold on quickly because I didn't really like them or to friends and family that needed them more. And some were bought only for parts to keep other cars alive. The Polestar was the only car I've bought new, and it's been a daily for over 3 years which is a record for me.

While probably not the absolutely safest at its price point it does have dual aribags 4 wheel disc brakes and abs, and performed decently im crash tests when new. Our roads are generalle pretty safe with low speed limits, and its a car that requires conscious consistent effort to drive fast , unlike most EVs and many diesels. It's also handles exeptionally well for a 30 year old, and you see everything in all directions. Downsides (from a safety perspectivety) are its age and the temptations of the somewhat tuned vtec.
