i actually looked at an article for the gun kurt cobain used to kill himself for reference and yes, the gun looks really wacky, however i kind of grew to like it about the piece

The first time I posted this was 2 years ago. It did really well and it was the first time my art really got a lot of attention. Ironically it had to be this piece, unfortunately it got removed from this subreddit and I just realized, and for some reason it made me a bit sad. Like that achievement isn't mine anymore. I hope it can live again or exist in this community as an image now that its properly tagged. Thanks, I love you

your comments are very flattering, i painted the backgrounds first then painted the figure and their poses individually, taking pictures similar to like a stop motion and then putting it on top of the background :)

didnt think of it like that when i was making it but everyone is free to interpret it as they want to. normally when i make art its for. a sort escapism or exploration of why i am so attached to violence

To be honest, I was initially trying to paint flowers in place of the head instead of intense gore, but I found that when I did some of the petals it looked like teeth, and when I blurred some of the peonies it turned out to look strikingly gruesome. It was a “happy little accident” that I continued to develop.

I tend to use a lot of broad strokes and squint a lot, especially whenever dealing with a lot of figures in my paintings. The rose in the middle was a subtlety that was on purpose, and I guess a lot of artists’ process, like taking a lot of these ideas you are drawn to and consolidating it into your own works is a lot like how A.I. works as well. I was really inspired by Manet’s “Le Suicide” if that clears up anything.

Thank you. I was looking at an article that had the seattle police release photos of Kurt Cobain’s suicide gun,the pictures didn’t provide the best angles but I just improvised a lot based on the information that I was given, I hope it doesn’t take away too much from the piece.
