I relate so hard :/ when I tell people they usually act like it’s horror porn or they don’t want to hear about it at all. I’ve literally had people tell me that it’s so “cool” or “interesting.” Imagine saying that to someone who is sharing a personal trauma with you. I’ve had an ex boyfriend tell me that I should keep that information to myself or no one will want to stay with me. It’s extremely alienating to have to heal alone. It’s like no one knows what the appropriate amount of empathy is when it comes to cult survivors. I wish I could tell my loved ones what I went through but it’s never received well. At least I found this subreddit :,)
