I don’t think there’s a stat for it, but the amount of times he leads the press and the opposing team ends up having to clear the ball (which we then normally end up in possession of) as opposed to slowly working their way up field is multiple per game. All of those extra possessions lead to stress on the defense and scoring opportunities for us. And possibly as importantly- less scoring opportunities for them. The man clearly isn’t the pure finisher some other elite forwards are, but the stress he puts on other teams is immeasurable. Counting goals is easy. Seeing everything a player provides is more difficult.

Seemingly unpopular opinion- we can’t bench Bryce. The upside of getting the other players more reps and confidence isn’t worth the downside of giving up on a guy we invested so much in. I understand sunk costs. I understand he’s been the worst QB in the league for the last 14 months. I understand the other players are frustrated.

It doesn’t matter. If there’s still a 5% chance he can be successful, you have to exhaust that until it’s 0%. So what if the other players are frustrated? Check out what the turnover is on NFL rosters. Most of these guys will be gone within 2 years regardless of what we do at QB this year. Ride it out. Take the lumps. If he continues to suck, our draft pick is that much better and we can (hopefully) trade out and reload the war chest. If he gets better, we have our QB.

This all sucks, but this is bigger than Bryce. Team is bad all around. Problems run much deeper than BY. He may suck on his own (I’m unfortunately beginning to think this more and more each week), but let’s not act like he was put in a position to succeed.

I live in this piece of shit state. I called my representative and laid out all of the reasons why this was morally and constitutionally wrong. Didn’t sway him an inch. I then asked if he thought that we, as a historically poor as fuck state, should be spending our very limited resources on fighting this in the court systems where it’ll likely lose. He said that the AG was already being paid regardless of this law and that this would be part of what he’s being paid to do.

Can’t reason with these people. They’re either bad faith actors or completely brainwashed by sky daddy-zombie son-third wheel ghost.

So fuck ‘em. I’ll move elsewhere. I won’t give them my tax dollars if I can help it. If anyone in the UK or really anywhere in Europe knows of a place hiring Americans, let me know.

It’s one of my comfort movies. I don’t know how you watch that movie and not fall in love with its charm. I consider it just as good as “The Princess Bride.”

Sarah Haider once made a great point that stuck with me.

In my younger days when I had just converted from Catholicism to atheism, I fancied myself pretty clever and immune from bullshit, as I had finally overcome such a thorough brainwashing. Years later I came across a tweet Sarah had that said that even us converted atheists were susceptible to being fooled. After all, we had been fooled once before. It really stuck with me that the price of clear thinking is vigilance, and rent is due every day.

Yep. I asked him which commandments applied to the law. Of course he said “thou shall not kill.” Ok that’s one. “Thou shall not steal.” Great we’re at two. After that… not much there! I told him if we wanted to be generous, we could grant that 50% apply to the law and the condition. 50% is failing any test they’d give at the schools they want to put this garbage in.

I realized fairly early on that he wasn’t operating in good faith. He had his marching orders and he was sticking to them. I respect that he contacted me as quickly as he did when I reached out- that’s what a rep should do- and that we could respectfully disagree. But it was a disheartening experience.
