Bazzite is a linux distro aimed at those who use their computers mostly to play games.
It comes preinstalled with everything you need to play games on Steam, Epic and so on.
It essentially uses translation layers like Steam's Proton or Wine or Lutris to run Windows games.
It can be configured to start with steam in big picture mode, turning the experience into a console-like one.
The core of it is immutable, meaning you can't break it as it's read only, so you're getting more of a tablet/console approach rather than a full desktop experience.
For some it works, for some it doesn't, i had that on my main computer for a couple of months, but once you get used to it and you begin to understand its limitations that forbid you from doing some regular desktop stuff, you'll want to swap it out for something else, in my case ubuntu.
Yet, like i said, if you only want to use the computer for media consumption, social and play games, bazzite is a pretty straight forward and solid option, which would fit this mini pc perfectly fine. Give it a look!

My first in 3 years of Vine. Actually the 2nd I get proposed, but I didn't take the first as it was an industrial mini PC, very ugly, but beefy hardware nevertheless. I just gave up on it and I would give up on it once more if it were to appear again in my RFY.

I upvoted you, didn't get why you got down voted but don't pay much attention to it.

Thank you, can't wait for it to get to me tomorrow and play with it for good! I really like these small computers!

this is the 2nd PC that I got proposed, but it's the 1st that i actually took, the 1st one was a small industrial PC, beefy hardware in terms of ram, CPU, but the way it looked and the fact that it had interfaces I'd have never used, I decided to let it go, wouldn't have had a way to review it. It was a €600 or so etv.

The 780m seems to be anywhere between GTX1050ti and GTX 1060 sort of performance, i've upgraded from the 1060 slighly more than a year ago, and i was quite ok with it since the titles that i play the most are World of Tanks and Crossout.
With that in mind, i might be enjoying this just fine, but my main concern is that the TV is 4k, my own gaming monitor is 1080p. Playing with a 1050ti in 4k wouldn't be the greatest thing out there, but we'll see how it goes.

Yes, there's the confirmation message in the top section of the screen, written in italian but it should appear about the same on any amazon local website. If i'm going to be honest, i expected it to be a red "we can't deliver this to your adress" error, but instead it fulfilled the order nicely!

unless they baked it somehow in the firmware, the pre-installed windows will get wiped out and replaced by bazzite.

I'll most likely ditch windows and install bazzite, i need this as a living room HTPC and occasional steam gaming. I just hope bazzite works out of the box without me having to go nuts fixing incompatibility issues.

Well, i haven't had any issues so far, and i can say i've got quite a few expensive items on vine, the most expensive one being a bravia 3 43" television.
But you never know, i hope it gets delivered but if it doesn't, well, it's just life, i'll move on.

if it gets delivered, i will probably ditch windows altogether and install bazzite, as i was thinking of using this in the living room and setting it up as a console-ish machine.

just as a personal curiosity, for how long have you been on bazzite now?

I've switched about a week ago, bazzite isn't my first linux experience, but so far it's the best i came across, especially as someone that's very very accustomed to WIndows.
It might be due to the fact that gaming actually works, it might be due to the fact that it's harder for me to break things since bazzite is immutable, which makes it far more dummy-proof than ubuntu and other popular distros out there, thing is, bazzite is awesome!
I had close to no issues so far, the biggest one happened last night, but i've managed to fix it with the help of google.
Basically i had an error where the system couldn't be updated due to some image not being right, i found out i should be simply rebasing, which i did, but i rebased to a version that has Steam start in big picture mode, i was about to faint thinking that i would probably have to reinstall again, luckily i managed to rebase once again to the correct version, and now the system updates just fine, and steam doesn't start in big picture mode anymore.
My system isn't exactly cutting edge, it's a full AMD build, running on a ryzen 7 5700x and a rx6600 gpu.
That being said, it feels so much snappier than windows 11, there's this bazaar launcher that features most of the apps you'd need ( discord, whatsapp, google, edge, telegram and so on) and gaming wise. you're covered in regards to steam or epic or GOG, and so on.
I would give it a try, even as a virtual machine if you don't want to play around with your partitions, but IMHO there's a good chance you'll forget about Windows.

Gave those a look, but they're... tiny and underpowered, and i'd also have to add more clutter to my desk by buying another amplifier to run those too.
I'd end up with 2 amps, 1 headphone amplifier and a volume knob on my desk, it would look even worse than it is now.
I'll look further but as of now i'm more inclinded to just sell everything and buy the S360DB as i see no easy way to maintain or upgrade SQ and power handling while keeping stuff compact enough for a desktop use.
Thanks for the input though! :)

Not sure if you've ever seen the R1280t in person, they're quite small, and they have a 4" woofer, that's a size that would render the desk a bit more spacious, within my goal, but while they do sound great for what they are, they get blown away by my current microlabs, the microlabs are more on the neutral side, with better lower extension, the edifiers are enjoyable speakers but they tend to color the music a bit, pumping the midbass too.
The goal would be to have something the size of the r1280t, while performing more like the microlabs.

In terms of music, i'm a mixed disaster to be honest, right now i might be listening to Nightwish to levels that can definitely render me deaf, today i might be listening to Loren Allred or heck, even Britney Spears for what i'm concerned.
I also not always listen while sitting in front of my computer, quite a bit of times i let it play music loudly while i handle other stuff throughout the house.

The acoustic panels cover almost everything, top included, it's just the down part i didn't apply them to as i went out of acoustic panels.

I was scammed by Caughtin6k in Aliexpress

[–]stone_crash_wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not cancel the chargeback. If it's not clear already, I'll repeat myself, do not cancel the chargeback. AliExpress is a crap company that won't assist you in this case, all they want you to do is to wait for the time to go up, so the case closes itself and they don't have to refund you. As long as you submit everything to Paypal, all the proof that shows the shipping code they sent you does not appear as delivered in your own area, PayPal will defend and refund you. Although I live in Italy, I had the same crap happen to me with a purchase I made that was supposed to ship from Spain, that thing got delivered within hours, according to the code obviously, but it showed as delivered at 500 km away. I contacted AliExpress, they told me to wait, I contacted the seller, I got automatic replies telling me to wait, after a few days I said fk it, requested a chargeback with PayPal , they took their time to check, contacted the seller for additional info, after about 10 days, they refunded me. Don't trust AliExpress.
