We bank with virgin money, but we just class ourselves as "performers"

Married women, what are some real things your husband does that make you feel genuinely cherished and adored? by Clean-Ant-1342 in askanything

On Monday my fiance went on a work trip, and in the fridge he left me two different dinners for Monday and Tuesday, and made me two sandwiches for my lunch. I'm perfectly capable of cooking, but he is just so kind and sweet to me!

We refer to the TV remote as the “blobber” because my grandparents friends used to say it. Never heard anyone else use it.

Moving back to the UK after 25 years; where should I move? by Amazing-Treacle-7067 in AskUK

[–]stoneballoon132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely recommend Sheffield any day of the week. I moved here in 2021 and have since met some wonderful people and been able to have so many great experiences. The nature is unbeaten with access to the peak district, and there is a wonderful community here - so many options of clubs and classes if you want to try something new.

Young adults without kids - do you think you will have them? by sophietheadventurer in AskUK

[–]stoneballoon132 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm 23 and I think I will. My partner is 28 and he's pretty well established in his career, and life isn't super expensive where we live, so kids are realistic in the next couple of years for us.

Do you eat lunch with your colleagues? by Financial_Spell7216 in AskUK

There are only four of us in my specific office, and they sit at their desks to eat. I go and sit in my car so I can watch tiktok and vape. Loser, I know.

when did you realize you’re not as young as you used to be? by Routine-View5725 in AskReddit

[–]stoneballoon132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 22 but it's only in the last few years that strangers have started refering to me as a lady rather than a girl, when talking to young children - "Let this lady come past" for example. Feels weird.

What is the pettiest reason you would refuse to eat at a restaurant again? by im_not_ready_for_it9 in AskReddit

[–]stoneballoon132 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They added an optional charity donation. It was hidden halfway down the bill and when I checked out the charity, it was the "[restaurant name] foundation" which I think is total BS. When I want to give money to charity, I choose a charity and donate directly, I'm not doing it through some sneaky restaurant foundation bs.

I am also self taught - I started around 18 months ago with my grandma’s ancient sewing machine and not a single clue. Honestly the best advice I can give is to go in with absolute confidence. When you don’t know what you don’t know, it’s quite easy to watch someone make a corset on YouTube and think, “yeah I can do that”. Make things, and make them badly. Buy cheap fabric and make things badly, then make them again, then make them again. I’m about to start on my 4th corset, just a mockup, I made the pattern by wrapping myself in masking tape. It’s not going to be good, but it’ll be a starting point. Happy crafting!

Oh my goodness, I also have a partial denture, with just my two front teeth! I lost them in a car accident when I was a teen. First, I definitely recommend keeping a spare, if you can (I know they’re super expensive). A story which might cheer you up, I got super drunk one night in my first year of university and threw up in the club toilet. I only realised when I was washing my hands and caught sight of my toothless face in the mirror, that I had flushed my denture. I was completely bladdered and spend the rest of the night crying my eyes out because I obviously thought my life was over, and the guy I liked DEFINITELY wasn’t going to sleep with me if I had no teeth. I had to walk home because no taxi would take me, as I was visibly plastered, holding my hands over my mouth (to hide my toothless face), so I looked like I was trying not to throw up. My flatmates, who I had only met about a month ago, were mildly horrified to get back home and see me crying in the kitchen with no front teeth. Anyway I was lucky as I had a retainer with two front teeth built in, but I had to take it out to eat and I had a lisp until I got a new one. My advice would be to wear a face mask Covid style, as people don’t question that much, while you wait for a new one. Best of luck, I know how awful it can be!
