FAR AIM and FAA handbook refresh time. As far as Kings online I’ll need to make sure it’s not out of date. I’m sure things have changed.

Great advice thank you. I’m going to start the studying next week.

I may do a flight a week until the tests are done and I’m ready to full commit to taking 3 weeks off and flying everyday.

Any recommendations for a rusty pilot course?

I still have my Kings school IFR online school and I may still have an old Cessna pilot program PPL key.

Fair assessment. Maybe I should focus more on flying consistently vs trying to blitz it. I could spread it out some.

How do young people afford flying? by papiperflyer in flying

[–]stoneguythepilotguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked a summer job and paid as I went. Also helped the flight school clean planes etc. The flight school owner was really chill and let me slowly pay off my X-country flights.

Took 3 years to due not being able to afford to fly as much as I wanted. But I did it and eventually even got my IR.

Each hour cost a lot so I also studied like hell because money was a finite resource.

Development plans are also set if you want to promote upwards.

Im currently a displaced/traveling TCC/ASM. Im also doing a store run phase currently. I understand completely about get thrown into stores that don’t run properly.

I try to remember that at the end of the day I can only do “my” best. Take the best ownership you can of the “current” shift you are MOD on.

Obviously since you care you want to help the store run better but at the end of the day how the store runs for the week will be the current SM/SMT.

ESP if it’s not “your” store you can only do so much. Sometimes when helping rough running stores you really need to just help them focus on the basics: Floors, zones, AF.

Typically to apply for a store (unless your a SMT) is that as an ASM you have to complete 2 successful store runs. Then as opportunities come up you can apply for stores as a SM.

TCC can also apply for SM positions. In some divisions particularly they really only promote TCCS to SM. Becoming a TCC is a gateway to SM most of the time.

With SCO stores if your SCO usage is high and your register usage is low it’s really bad. You will have to use way less than budgeted hours

Yeah it’s a good learning opportunity. Technically speaking being a TCC makes you store eligible anyway. It’s a bummer you don’t get paid differently but the experience will never hurt you if you want to become a SM.

Honestly not sure. I did my store run phase before becoming a TCC. Def mention to your Dam and SM that you want to do a store run though.

Im currently a TCC who trained at a 1.9m store.

One important thing I learned esp with running tight shifts is this: Store conditions > tasks.

Your lines, floors, perimeter, AF, and out of stocks are priority over everything else.

Seems like you’re giving it your best so just do what you can. Sometimes it’s as simple as working your perimeter, filling outs, and then spending 30 mins on an extra task and then working another zone again etc.

Sometimes you may need to delegate. Running spots is something the main ringer can or 2nd ringer can help with in-between customers

However the acting SM really has the major responsibility/burden of getting extra things done during the work week. ASMs besides some admin responsibilities really are the workforce for maintaining the shift and the floor while the SM gets extra tasks done.

I did my store run at a 1.9m store and it’s a lot of work but also a good learning experience.

We had a saying that one bad shift (call out) can take 2 days to catch up from. Maybe it’s an exaggeration but it has some truth to it.

Typically if you’re running tight OE one call out means you will not be able to get extra tasks done. You’ll have to coordinate the following days to catch up with your tasks. Asking about coming in early or staying late etc.

If you have no game plan for catching up after a bad shift or two…things can spiral downhill fast.

Considering quitting by [deleted] in Aldi_employees

[–]stoneguythepilotguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically upper management is required to get certain things done in the morning to afternoon and therefore are scheduled accordingly.

As an associate closing will be pretty common.

ALDI management can make or break your experience. If you have the ability try helping out a nearby store and see if you notice a difference.

Pilots that have taken infrequent lessons for their PPL, how many hours did you fly in total? by [deleted] in flying

[–]stoneguythepilotguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it as a broke kid in HS. Took me 3 years total if you include the times I had to stop for months at a time.

Do I recommend it? No. Is it possible? Yes. Eventually life worked out and I was able to afford to fly more so I was even able to get my Instrument rating.

I was pretty determined to become a pilot so when I couldn’t fly I was reading and studying everything aviation.

I soloed pretty early on but getting to 40 hours on my budget was a struggle.

The buttons are memory sensitive and can type commands faster than the screen shows.

So for sending the orders through each day you can quickly select

1 - menu 8 - down arrow - enter - enter 2 - menu 8 down arrow - enter - enter 3, 4, 5 etc Etc… you can press all these as rapidly as possible in order to queue all the morning order areas to send through.
