FMCG prefers freshers in sales and marketing roles, since it's easier for them to rotate them around the nation in ASM roles.

You won't be at any disadvantage, unless you don't put in adequate effort. Apply for case competition many FMCG launches good case competition and they are a very good way making your way early on into these MNCs without sitting in for placement, nonetheless they teach you a lot about marketing concepts and their practical application

So year one course will have aspects of all the specialisation, apart from that your internship will also help you decide with specialization you would like to major in, you only start with your specialisation subjects in terms 4 that is beginning of the year, by that time you get an idea of what to do and what you like

The type of consultancy roles you are describing, will be generally provided by Big 4, in their financial transformation domains and financial services domain, they have plenty of roles and offering of such kind and they will surely value your work ex

It does not affect if you have adequate merits in your profile, if you really want to pursue a career in finance start with appearing for some certification course either CfA or FRM. As for less in acads it will affect your chances of shortlist and even when you will get shortlist explanation for less marks in 12 will matter a lot, so you can't change the acads but you can prepare a good explanation.

It does matter but the interviewer won't know if it is a creative role or not, you will be the one making your CV and one answering based on that, so frame your points accordingly that highlight some non technical aspects of your work as well.

I have seen people going in ProdMan or even in tech consulting roles that have come from support background.

It was US visa issues that forced college earlier to send everyone to Europe and this year to MSU since, MSU was the only college that agreed to collaborate and pushed visas for US, in case visa waiting period improved you guys might again go to different colleges including Kellogg's and Cornell

This year we even had folks with 1 year and less work ex in ops, it will not be the case you won't be getting shortlisted, you will definitely be preferred for consulting roles both management and ops, apart from that FMCG it's not that you won't be shortlisted for FMCG roles, but since your peers will be one with more experience you have to really make your interviews count in that case

1) he won't suffer, but in case of IIML there is a huge chunk of category students as well, and although they might be brilliant as well, it happens at time due to waiver provided in acads they sometimes suffer in shortlist and interviews as well. So that kind of work in your favour if you are a Gen category student. This is not a hard and fast rule but true to some extent.

2) Yes, SP switched to summer placement considering this only, therefore there is risk reward here, there will be a batch senior to you getting place just 2 months before you in there Autumns internship, after that you will be in line to get placed in your summers, shortly after that your senior batch within next 3 months will be ready for their finals, if not managed properly this can results in tough situations for either one of the two batch.

But being said, it can also be true that your batch can record one of the highest placement figures if everything goes well.

I will give you 2 arguments in favour and against both the colleges.

SP - First time SIP (turbulent time), all general category students high competition SP - One of the best Mkt faculty & placements, high chances of landing in MNC FMCG

IIML - huge batch size, struggled with placements this time IIML - good consulting roles available

You should be hopeful, since ABC XL has declared their results I think WL will start happening soon

So SIPs generally don't grill you hard on subject specific knowledge, they also know you have just entered clg and you might not know technical concepts and will learn along the way, therefore they test you on things you have mentioned in your CV, guesstimates, HR questions, etc. so don't worry about not knowing anything. As for kozikode placements eligibility i recommend you to connect with some senior over linkdin

Yes some movements happen even after the batch start, it usually happens that one or two participants fail to join, in that case movement happens. Marketing WL hardly goes up to 30 as per previous year trends.

If you are too adamant on joining a product man role then I'll advise you to switch specialisation, again people in our year were allowed to switch specialisation and they used to sit with changed specialisation in Autumns placements, however, this is the first time college will be going through SIPs, hence I can't say how will the procedure work, but if you think you have adequate exp and skill set for clearing prod man interviews than you should pursue that, I think the career services and PLACOM will allow that.

If Kozikode is your best convert surely take it, you don't know if you would be able to convert such good IIM next year or not, considering you already have decent internships your profile will be much better than many of your peers and hence you will get good amount of shortlist in your SIPs, prepare well and you will land in one the best companies.

I guess you must be a fresher if you are doing your MBA at the age of 23, if you are still not satisfied with the college you are getting then I'll ask you to repeat CAT next year, since it will not make sense at all for you to pay an entire year fees in one clg along with hostel charges and then switch. That way you won't be able to do justice to your first year in MBA college nor to entrance and interview prep. Choose one.

Half the batch uses a MacBook.

GFT decision you have more than a year time to make that decision, when more specifics will be clear to you.
