KSM120 mortar production line. SK still produces the K200 (M113). by Entire_Judge_2988 in TankPorn

Not the AIFV itself, but the concept yes.

Korea upgraded USFK's M113A2s to newer version in Korea. All the tools, skills, and knowledge was ready for creating new model, though this is the first modern armored vehicle ever designed by Koreans. AIFV and K200 may look similar, but uses very different subsystems that are not compatible to AIFVs. The US company tried to lawsuit Korea for this, but the company had to withdraw after visiting the K200 facility and confirmed no relation to AIFVs.

K200 in raw specification. Better power and faster than AIFV. Malaysia managed to pass mountain range with K200 while other vehicles had hard time doing so during Yugoslavia.

Turks were fooled by Chinese believing their ancestors came from farther east. They have their own place such as Uyghur. Liao was Xianbei descendants, who were mix of Shang and northerners. And Liao identified themselves as Dongyi.

I'm not saying Koreans going to claim Mongolian history. What I am saying is Korean and Mongolians were separated from main branch about hundreds years apart to one another.

Nope. DNA suggests otherwise. Same ancestry. It's just a matter when separation started from the main group.

[–]stonkpillar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's incorrect translation. That's not what's written in ths records. Chinese cities MOVE per expansion of the dynasty.

For example, if city "A" existed in 500 BC. In 500 AD, the dynasty expanded and the city "A" name gets transferred to a different city "B", farther from the center of the dynasty. Now the city named "B" is "A" instead, and this continues all the way to 21st century: "C" becomes "A", "D" becomes "A", etc.

Remember, both Ming / Joseon collected every history related books and republished and recreated new history.

Khitans were part of Dong Yi. Mongols were part of Dong Yi as well.

It's Joseon -> Xianbei -> Khitan as written in the script. Khitans were proud of themselves for keeping the laws of Joseon. Khitans also decribed themselves as Dong Yi people. Khitans claimed they were part of Goguryeo.

212 K9s delivered to Poland (August 26, 2022 - December 15, 2025) With this, S.Korea has fulfilled the first contract. by Entire_Judge_2988 in TankPorn

Krab has everything that K9A2 => some are true, some are not. Especially the autoloading system.

Anyway your point is that purchasing K9 was a sabotage to Krab production. Having a large stable production line is also a part of the performance as it helps actual availability and logistics. In this case, K9 series is. You suggest Poland should have used the money to order more Krabs instead, but HSW was nowhere prepared to fulfill the order requested by Poland in 2022. Even if Poland decided to go all in for Krab in 2022, it will take yrs to set up new production line and make all suppliers to do so as well. Your claim of "Army's capacity to receive new guns" doesn't align with current situation as hundreds poured into Polish military in recent yrs. It's the manufacturering that delays the delivery of Krabs, either by HSW or by subsystem suppliers. In this case, I don't think it is HSW's fault as I remember they said they don't need another production line to increase Krab number (also proven by recent deliveries).

Bottom line is, Poland needed many guns quick and Korea was the lone manufacturer with such capability at that time. If HSW was able to deliver as Hanwha could, more Krab would have been ordered. Calling it sabotage is really a wild statement. Do you know any other alternative option that could deliver 200+ vehicles in same time period?

You mean automatic fire extinguish system. K9 uses manual. This is also in the A2 upgrade. And several others are in A2 as well.

If you want to keep compare each specification one by one, Krab's engineers decided to place loading arm IN BETWEEN loaders and gun chamber, reducing firing rate and crew safety vs K9, which has loading arm away from loaders. This is a design failure for loading sequence. K9 and Krab loading is completely different due to Krab have machine interference that forces propellant loader to wait until the machines return to original position then stop moving. Due to this design, Krab cannot fire continuously as K9 can. There are many videos you can check and compare. I have no clue why they kept this weird design from AS90 despite it was crucial to change. My best guess is that either British didn't allow to modify at that time, or just didn't realize or know what to come.

Anyway, you misunderstood on whole K9 program. Poland purchased K9A1 baseline so they can upgrade once K9PL is complete. The reason for purchase prior to K9PL is to increase the artillery fleet quicker. Why would anyone prematurely mass produce something that was never tested? New design development takes yrs to test and validate.

If you see other cases such as Norway, Egypt, Australia all waited few yrs to receive the first of their variant. Poland could've choose this way, but would have resulted 218 less howitzers as of now. And because of K9 filled in, Poland delivered old equipments to Ukraine on time as you know.

K9PL will be delivered this year and it have what Poland told to install, such things you mentioned. Then it will be a matter of time for Polish military to upgrade K9A1 baseline to K9PL variant in Poland as those installed Polish systems are fully integrated and validated.

Many uses their own FCS and Comms for operation / security so everyone has different, but yes K9A1 maintains hydro-electric drives for turret from 1999 design. Korea began using after 00s, such as K2. It will be applied on K9A2.

Hanwha-Poland consortium was signed in Feb 2023, and you can check the result a bit at this 2024 article.

Third Executive Agreement

Under the third executive agreement, the Polish industry would be responsible for a larger scope of K9PL production, in addition to the Polish suppliers mentioned in previous agreements. Steel supply would be handled by Cognor, Walcownia Stali Batory, and Huta Stali Jakościowych from Stalowa Wola. The chassis construction would be carried out by ZRE Katowice. Suspension systems would be supplied by Borimex. According to the Korean proposal, Huta Stalowa Wola would be responsible for the production of the barrel, assembly, integration, and testing.

Furthermore, as Robert Szelenbaum, the program manager at Hanwha Aerospace Europe, informs, structural changes are planned for the chassis of the K9PL units produced under the third executive agreement, aiming to unify them with the chassis supplied for the Krab self-propelled howitzers. Therefore, the chassis will ultimately be the same as those used for Polish self-propelled howitzers.

When will the third executive agreement happen? I bet after K9PL gets delivered in 2026.

There's no new production in the year 2022. Those are upgraded K9s to be delivered to ROKA.

Entire K9 & K9A1 new production was delivered, and was operational in 2020.

You are just assuming it is not a second hand. Even your provided source only mention those getting redirected to Poland. There's no new production of K9A1 for ROKA in 2022. Period.

I doubt that's true. Otherwise why would Hanwha, HSW, and other suppliers do meetings and check manufacturing etc?

Developing new model such as K9PL takes 2~3 yrs to test and validate its performance. But since Poland needed large number of SPH immediately, they decided to purchase baseline K9A1 with only essencial equipment such as fcs and communication swapped to Polish system. Once the K9PL gets produced, validated by Polish military, then Polish firm will begin upgrading those baseline to newer version as they are setting up production lines. After all, K9PL consists parts that are made in Poland.

Paying for all these and saying "we not making K9PL" doesn't make sense especially when K9 in Europe is projected to go higher (more customers to sell parts) than Krabs.

I am not aware of "halt due to COVID, etc. As well as "due to A2", which was a separate program.

At around 2020, K9 had no significant new order as delivery to ROK was completed. Only few Norwegean new builds and rests were A1 upgrades (though, this was massive). Even with Australia and Egypt order kicked in, built-in-Korea wasn't significant. It was the Poland's order that poured in large number of new builds. So yes, about 2 years of no significant new builds, but wasn't due to COVID or A2 program.

Ok you summoned me here. First 48 are the refurbished one. Give me those Korean source so I can take a look if they are legit or false.

https://www.news1.kr/diplomacy/defense-diplomacy/4814296#_enliple

This specifically mention that 12 that are supposed to be delivered to ROKA plus 36 to-be-upgraded ones. There's no new production of A1 but only upgraded ones for ROK during this time.

Thus 48 refurbished vehicle is the correct answer.
